3rd report from Little Rock Hit n Run

This was only my 2nd Prince concert, the first being Vegas in Dec. and not front row so it is hard for me to compare. BUT...This concert was absolutely fabulous. Of course being on the front row what else could I expect.

Shout outs to all the fams (Pyschedelic Mama and Low 3?, and the couple from Dallas, you all were great!)...

MILLENIA came on shortly after 8pm, they have great voices, but a little slow and mellow for the beginning of a concert.....The FONKY BALD HEADS were on around 8:30. They were working the crowd. Then when Prince came on stage with them of course the place went wild. They had a lot of energy and continued to get the crowd hyped. I am not sure of the bald headed white guys name (reminds you a little of Eminem) but we we had fun with him. He came over and grabbed my hand and rubbed it all over his "fonky bald head", unfortunately he wasn't the one I was wanting to grab wink... then he had my friend singing "Fonky Bald Heads" in the mike about a dozen times... He came out after the concert and signed autographs and visited... he was really cool....

Prince came on stage shortly after 9:00... I can't even begin to describe what that experience was like. He blew the roof of Alltel Arena. It wasn't a sold-out crowd, I think someone said 6,000 or 7,000, but they definately showed him Respect. He said he was in a good mood and it showed. He played a little of everything, sorry but I was having too much fun to remember the set list... I do remember "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" however because thats when he kissed his guitar pick and handed it to my friend. Of course there were lots of tears during the slow songs... "Scandalous" did it for me... The energy and feeling that the man puts into his music just blows me away... he dedicated "Purple Rain" to someone name "Gloria" and said "she knows who she is". The show ended shortly after 11:00 but I think that was due to the Arena and not him... at least thats what he said.

There was no after party announced, but my friend and I went on a bit of a wild goose chase considering we aren't from Little Rock. To make a long story short, by pure luck we passed his bus a little after 1:00am.

We decided to go be nosey and much to our surprise he was at the front of the bus talking to the driver. Of course we couldn't believe that we were standing right there in front of him but we remained calm and kept our cool. We actually got a smile from him but that was all.

We waited around for awhile and chatted with 3 other people that were there. There was a bald headed white man there who I assumed was a body guard or something because we had seen him at the concert too. When Prince went to the back of the bus we motioned to the body guard for autographs but he shook his head no sad . Not that we were really suprised.

When he came back to the front of the bus he had changed clothes. He was wearing a red suit and was holding a white hat. A female exited first (possibly Gloria?) and he came out right behind her and strutted his stuff into the hotel. Someone from the hotel said that the air conditioning wasnt working on his bus so he was staying overnite.

We were a little disappointed that he didn't acknowledge us in some way, even just with a wave but he never looked our way after leaving the bus. There were only 5 people standing around. Maybe we were a little too calm and should have screamed like crazy fools, but we were trying to be nice and not invade his privacy too much. I am sure we looked like big enough idiots as it was...but oh well...you only live once.
