3rd report from Norfolk Hit n Run

OH MAN! What a couple of days/nights I've had!

Norfolk was a blast!!!

Outside the Norva it was cold as F***!!! and NONE of us were dressed properly, I mean NONE!!! We were ALL freezing our asses off waiting to get inside, which seemed like it took forever! Then we had a slight scare when a whole throng of people came out of nowhere and busted in our line (which wasn't really that long to begin with) and were all standing around wondering what happened, when we found out that these people were patrons at a restaurant called the Backstage cafe and they had all gotten early entry passes into the club. All the NPGMC clubbers were like "oh HELL NAW, no they don't!!"

Finally, after waiting a few minutes, this nice gentleman who worked for the Norva named Al came past us and asked if we were in theNPGMC... we said YES YES YES and he told us to stand in a separate line, we were SO HAPPY!!! They were looking out for us... so then Al led us to the ticketwindow, and we got our tix first... and then he told us to go stand off into ANOTHER line... and then one of the staff members shouted "all early entry ticket holders stand here!" which is where we were standing, and suddenly the RUSH of people came towards us, and I thought I was going to get crushed!

So once again, the NPGMC got mixed up in the crowd... so after waiting some MORE, our Friend Al came through for us again, and told us to come out and form ANOTHER LINE... but THIS TIME... it was so we could get let into the club... the waiting was over..

now all we had to do was squeeze (and I DO MEAN SQUEEZE) our way through the crowd of folks trying to push their way in through the norva staff members into the club... in fact, it got so bad, we ALL had to hold each others' hands just so we wouldn't lose each other in the crowd. Now, you have to realize, that while the door people/staff persons were trying to let US IN, they had to fight the throng of people trying to push their way in...

but miraculously, one by one, we got in.... and got to the front of the stage... and then we had to deal with being crushed by the people behind us. .which in my case didn't really happen but it happened to Shawn, poor thing... she has seen Prince in concert before, but never from front row, so for her this was a real treat.. and when prince finally went on and did "purple rain" she started crying, it was SO SWEET....

The Norfolk show was way shorter than the Baltimore one, but he did "U Make My Sunshine" and did this really cool routine with the microphone, talking to it as if it were a woman:

"where ya going..... out?..... not with that dress on, u aint..... baby I'll show u what the 'i' in 'pimp' stands for..... turnaround, let me see this dress....." LOL.. he was a trip...

SO MUCH energy in this show! He really does love a club crowd! At one point, during Najee's solo, he even signed something for someone in the crowd (an autograph, perhaps) and whatever it was, he was writing for a long time... and then, he grabbed some sort of cable or rope, and threw it to someone on the top tier of the club to grab onto, then he proceeded to act as if he was going to climb upto the top! We were going crazy!

Every time he came to our side of the stage to play a solo or to grab people's hands, (at one point, by accident, he spit on someone) someone always grabbed his leg, and Aaron had to come by and throw it off...

man, some of the women in this crowd were not to be believed... Shawn had to suffer a woman right behind her who'd never seen Prince before, and she kept screaming in her ear... several women kept trying to push their way up past us... and a fight almost broke out when a woman pushed someone really violently.

All in all though, a great time was had by all (and that club was packed to capacity). When it was all over, the floor was covered with spilled drinks (ugh, it was disgusting) and I found Al and made sure to thank him for looking out for us club members.

The NPGMC works!
