dang, that is a pretty great set list... lets just hope it isnt watered down into 30second medley versions or overly jazzed up interpretations...
would still love to hear when u were mine, something in the water, beautiful ones, or tambourine... but who cares!

This is a setlist that should not disappoint the NPGMC member and the casual fan. For those who have been fans since the early days, this concert should bring back memories, and for those who only know the hits, this concert will be rewarding also.

"Sell Out Setlist"

Disappointed. I can understand this, to go from a tour with very limited hits to one with nothing but hits. He'll definitely make more money with setlists like this, but really- this is disappointing. If he's gonna play so many hits, would kill him to look past the Purple Rain album for once?

I'm sorry you feel this way.

But some people (i'm not saying you) need to realise that Prince fans are so few and far between that if he's going to tour in 4,000 plus capacity venues he's going to do the 'hits' package.

Can you imagine how demoralising it would be to play a set list that had half the audience completley uninterested.

Prince NEEDs clear channel to support him if he's going to continue this and a further world tour. They will pull the carpet straight from under his feet if his shows are met with any bad feed-back.

I think it's good that Prince is playing the game as it means that he can put together viable tours in regions that wouldn't see the light of day on a ONA / Rainbow Children tour...

NO! He's coming to Canada and the US first if I have anything to do with it.

Trouble is... I don't.

But Prince... you've got a house in Toronto. Come on, man -- I've only seen you live once.

IMO the set list was appropriate, playing a lot from Purple Rain but a lot of other stuff also. When he plays these song with a spirit of really wanting to he can't go wrong-Controversy, The Beautiful Ones, Let's Work, The ? of U. To me "Lets Go Crazy" is the ultimate song to open up a show with, it gets the place rockin'. I would say add "Shes Always in My Hair" to the set list!! (cause I love that tune live!!) Otherwise, I thought this set was appropriate for this event. Playing shows like this etc..etc..may not even boost his sales, may not even get him on the radio- IMO I think Prince is trying to please the auience that was there that night and thats what you aim for when your a musician to please your audience. The ONA tour was a different audience than say this event. ONA worked cause of the NPGMC. I'm not taking away that a lot of the faithful core fans were there but it was a mass of people. I hope he plays another ONA style tour and sure he will. One thing certain, people are always acting like whatever Prince does is the last thing he will do! Which is never the case. I know we have not heard the last from that purple bastard with the high heels!!

Dang, ya'll would complain if Prince hung you with a new rope! First, there's whining that he's not doing the hits, and now it's that he does medleys. Goodness gracious sakes alive, that's one of the things I like best about his live performances, I don't know why ya'll don't like it. And then if he played all his major hits from start to finish, what would ya'll find next to complain about?

Hmmm...Interesting order of songs. He's doing When Doves Cry, too. Other surprises - Mountains, Elephants and Flowers and DMSR.

So this is the tour where he retires his hits? Gosh, what'll he do after this? Probably more touring, but with the music we haven't yet heard. Actually, not many of the songs that he wrote as hits are my favorites. Not to say they're not good, but they were written specifically to sell the album.

Bring 1999 out of retirement for this last one, P!

"Nothing But Hits?" Let's see...I promise I'm not being that Bart Van Halen guy...but...

Baby I'm a Star- NO
Shh- NO
DMSR -NO
I Feel For You-NO...and he's not Chaka Khan
Controversy-NO
The Beautiful Ones-No..but probably should've been a hit single.
Mountains-Are you kidding? This made the Top 40, but I hardly ever heard it on the radio, even in bigger cities.

The One-NO
Elephants And Flowers-NO
Everlasting Now-NO
Take Me With U-Well...this wasn't really a hit, but since Prince has played this during like 95% of every concert in the last 7 years, he should throw it away. Besides this song inspires him to make the crowd sing, when he should be willin' 2 do the work.

Sure, most of the songs are familiar..but there are many songs the average public moron has never heard

I really like this set list. I'm a newer Prince fan. I got into him in '99 and I've never really seen him do a huts set list. The Hit N Run tour was just all 1 minute medley versions, and the ONA tour was barley any hits. If he plays all those songs complete like they are on the album I think thats cool.

Does anyone know if he played them complete? Like, on When Doves Cry did he do the kick ass screams and the great guitar solo?
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 6, 6...
