1st report from Baltimore Hit n Run

Sup Purpleheads,

Just getting back from the Baltimore Hit N Run show....Prince was in RARE form!!! The crowd was really into the show (most of us stood the whole show). I won't put the set list, since it was pretty much the same as the others. However, he didn't sing U make My Sun Shine (I was disappointed by that). The Work ROCKS!!! I haven't heard the Napster version, but it translates very well live and the crowd seemed to enjoy it.

The show was supposed to start at 8, but it was closer to 8:30 or so when Millenia came out. They can sing, but those dance moves were straight out of a seventh grade talent show. They didn't have a band, and the sound was kinda bad in one of the speakers. Their lyrics were real sappy and cheesy, and it really makes you appreciate a lyrical master like Prince. Their loudest ovation came when they said they were leaving (only to stay and do one more song lol)

Next were the Fonky Bald Heads...They were actually pretty good and got a good reception from the crowd. I lost it when thy broke into an instrumental version of "I'm Yours" from the For You album. Next they did a nice cover of Anotherloverholeinyohead. Again, their loudest ovation came when they said they were leaving, but I think the crowd was feeling them more than Millenia.
The Man came on about 9:45 or so, and like I said, did the basic set list from the other shows. I rank this as his second best show that I've seen, only behind The Small Club Capitol Ballroom concert of 1998 in DC (1500 tickets, hot sweaty crowd). This was a show that fringe Prince fans could enjoy, because almost everything was radio friendly, with most of the material coming from the early to mid 80's.

The band was tight, and the crowd really gave Najee his props. Those of us who remember his solo jazz days really appreciated his grooves.

The show ended at 11:30, which I though was kind of early, but I was hardly disappointed. There was an afterparty announced, but that was 40 miles away in DC at club 2K9...I don't think Prince would drive south and then have a show in Pa. tomorrow, but you never know.

I also picked up the 3 available singles ( I passed on Rhonda's CD, cuz I had to get my Hendog on LOL). Underneath the Cream/Supercute is credited to Prince, while Daisy Chain/Gamillah and 2045 Radical Man/Peace are credited to the NPG.

I'm drinking my 40 oz right now and I gotta go to work in the morning, so I WILL BID ya'll a good night. I had a Blast!!!!

Peace and be Wild
