In her autobiography "Through the Fire", Khan admits she had a boyfriend who provided her with crack as late as 1999. Which means she might have been sucking on a pipe during her collaboration with Prince in the late 90's.

The article also refers to her interracial relationships, which often met with disapproval.

Why do i love Chaka even more now?

I respect the fact that she ain't trying to hide nothing. She's not putting up such a front like her shit don't stink and she's above human. Chaka always have struggled with that shit in some form or another and she's caught up in certain ways. I'm from Chicago and I have the skinny on her and her peeps in Chi-town that she still gets high with. I hope that can eventually put that behind her and live a more sober life. She's obviously holding her own and fairing well in spite what she stills does; so that means she ain't too far gone yet. Old habits are hard to break for some people, but this does not mean that I love Chaka any less! She still has a lot of "Chicago" in her and folks that are from the Chi know exactly what I'm talking about on that note. She'll be alright and I'm looking forward to checking out her book; not for reasons of finding out about the dirt in her life but to discovering Chaka as a whole. More good than bad. George Clinton stills fucks with the pipe, but he's still the man; regardless. Peace.

Chaka Khan addicted to crack as late as 1999

This would explain her performance when she came down to Mobile, AL for our Bayfest. She looked like she was high and was fussing at the light guy and everything. Her performance wasn't good at all. I have most of it on tape.

chaka has been doing drugs since the late 70's. I know this because my sister saw her in Phila in i believe 1979 and she said that chaka was smashed and had no problem letting the crowd know it. I really wish her the best.
