Man, I hope Prince don't bring this set list state side, because his JOTY/Love41Another/Hit&RunTour was basically most of those songs & that was from 96-01. Give some new shit, rare shit, favorites...fuck the hits.

"Sell Out Setlist"

Disappointed. I can understand this, to go from a tour with very limited hits to one with nothing but hits. He'll definitely make more money with setlists like this, but really- this is disappointing. If he's gonna play so many hits, would kill him to look past the Purple Rain album for once?

I agree...is that what the foreign friends want?

Wow how can we complain about any of the songs since it is a concert mainly to perform his numerous hits. i for one love all the songs on the set list..i think my ears are still ringing from the girls screaming as he performed insatiable from the act ii tour in the early 90's ...can't wait for him to come 2 the US ..peace and b wild!

I guess that's the thing with me. I like his hits, but I don't love them with a few exceptions (Raspberry Beret, 1999, I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man, 7). I guess none of his hits get much emotion out of me like a Ballad of Dorothy Parker, or Everywhere, or Avalanche would.

My problem is, why can't he ever meet people halfway? It's all or nothing with Prince. A tour is either one big greatest hits medley, or a "fuck the hits" styled tour. Why not bring both to the table and do half and half, just like he did on the Act 1 and 2 and Lovesexy tours. I guarantee he could make a new fan or two if he played something like Gold, Xpedition, or Love 2 the 9s in between a couple of hits...

That said, I definitely give him props for playing shhh, dmsr, and elephants and flowers. It's rare that I even complain when it comes to Prince's music, I'm as fanboyish as the next guy (but not fam-boyish). I just know that I've seen him live one time (JOTY tour '97) and that was a hits tour. I was dying to see the ONA tour because it's right up my alley, but he never played a show close enough to home for me.

Wasn't this overseas tour billed as the last one he would play the hits? Regardless of whether it is the last time or not, why wouldn't you guys expect the set list to be hit-heavy?

This setlist appeals to younger Prince fans who missed out on his '80s music...and that's a good thing, actually...increase his very much dwindling fanbase...

I haven't heard him play DMSR since the 1999 tour in 1982 at the Universal.

Wish I could have been there.

I've never heard him to Elephants And Flowers.

Sorry to spoil the party, but this isn't a correct set list!

It's close, but not quite. There was no 7, Mountains or Elephants and Flowers. He played a medley of Elephants & Flowers and Mountains in the soundcheck.

It looks like this may have been the intended tracklist but those songs were left from the encore?

Im going to the 2nd Melbourne Show on the 22nd & while I'm ecstatic to be seeing Prince live in Australia for the first time, as a true fan of his art in the last 10 years, I find this playlist frustrating. There is so much better music from his halcyon days than "Purple Rain". "When Doves Cry" is the only song that stands the test of time here as a timeless classic. So why 7 songs from this Album. The rest of the songs I'm drooling in anticipation coz there is a perfect mix to cover the fan base from casual to Hardcore..."Hot Pants/Life of the Party". I cant believe I'm gonna hear something new at the show. Get a hold of yourself. I am hoping this show in Hong Kong is a huge ruse & that he changes the Set every show. Coz that would be our man. Never one to conform to what is expected...LOOK OUT MELBOURNE...THERES AN EARTHQUAKE COMING...& I FOR ONE DONT MIND IF BUILDINGS FALL DOWN AROUND ME. Love B

Seems to me that P is preparing for a festival tour next summer. would b cool tho. And if I may: heres what I'd like to hear: electric intercourse, sexy mf, still would stand all time, forever in my life/it, its gonna b a beautiful night, play in the sunshine, but also new (funky) material... (instead of take me with u, kiss)

And there's something else: this band is so tight that everything sounds so smooth, too smooth even. I like the raw thing. Blackwell is an extremely talented drummer, but with him you'll always have that jazzy feel, simply because he's too good (or mayb he should just change the sound of his drumming a lil). Im not complaining here, its my opinion. Prince is King forever.

"Nothing But Hits?" Let's see...I promise I'm not being that Bart Van Halen guy...but...

Baby I'm a Star- NO
Shh- NO
DMSR -NO
I Feel For You-NO...and he's not Chaka Khan
Controversy-NO
The Beautiful Ones-No..but probably should've been a hit single.
Mountains-Are you kidding? This made the Top 40, but I hardly ever heard it on the radio, even in bigger cities.

The One-NO
Elephants And Flowers-NO
Everlasting Now-NO
Take Me With U-Well...this wasn't really a hit, but since Prince has played this during like 95% of every concert in the last 7 years, he should throw it away. Besides this song inspires him to make the crowd sing, when he should be willin' 2 do the work.

Sure, most of the songs are familiar..but there are many songs the average public moron has never heard

I thought the set list was cool and appropriate. Anything from Purple Rain could have been a hit single.

Where? In Japan? In the US, it was the 5th single from Purple Rain, playing out the string, and hit like # 28 and stalled. I NEVER heard it on local radio...and only heard it once at 3am on a trip to Miami. I promise I'm not turning into Bart Van Halen, but some of you have some poor memories. Then again, this site still has a large group of people who think it's "Anna Stasia" instead of "Anna Stesia" Or think it's Prince Roger instead of Prince Rogers...but who the hell really cares? I just want Prince to bring the tour to Florida, AND JUST SAY NO TO MEDLEYS...if songs are like his children, don't CUT THEIR ARMS AND LEGS OFF!!!

I went 2 Harbour Fest but I think he DOESN'T play these songs.If I'm wrong, I'm sorry.

7
Elephants And Flowers
Mountains

Maybe they're included on setlist paper...but he never played that.
And he played Fallin' (Alicia Keys song) after The One.
That's sure.

I've heard that Maceo played Uptown Up sometime.

I'm so damned jealous right now. SOTT LIVE! Especially the way he he adds a Jazz/Fusion feel to everything now, I know that concert was KICKIN!

I'm still happy for the people in Hong Kong, we get to see him a lot more often than they do.
