CitySearch (San Francisco) mentions Oakland Hit n Run

Event Profile

The Skinny

When Prince wiggled lasciviously onto the national stage, spewing lyrics that would make the most battle-scarred soldier blush, modest folks ran for the hills. The rest of us got our freaky groove on. And after two decades of hits, misses, name changes and, well, just plain oddness, the Artist maintains his unique appeal, if just to see what he comes up with next.

His last full-length album, 1999's "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic," shook off some of the half-baked hip-hop and ugly devices that sullied his post-symbol releases, offering fans a glimmer of hope that they might see a return to form for the purple wonder. His current Hit N' Run Tour, reportedly loaded with old hits, should reaffirm Prince's reign.

The Crowd

Geminis, Aquarians, purple paisley-clad bohemians.
