Club Life review

Hey everybody...just got back from the Artist's performance at Club Life.

First, let me give a big thank you (with lots of NewPower NY love) to Lisa and Marcus for "saving" me a spot in line.

I'll leave a set list up to someone else...

The club started letting people in at 9:10pm. They played a mix of Prince and other R&B, rap, hip hop songs. The stage wasn't set at all except for mics. At midnight the dj came on and said the artist was stuck at the Yahoo awards and would get to life in 45 min. The crew got there in
about a half hour but the show didn't start until 3:30 am (the Artist is as punctual as ever).

The band consisted of the Artist, Morris, Kirk, Larry, some aux percussion player (I forgot her name), and a male singer. Maseo Parker was jamming with the Artist during the first couple of songs and Doug E. Fresh and Kool Moe Dee also joined the npg at times.

During the gsc portions, Jerry and Cynthia, as well as a female vocalist, joined the show. The opening was jams with some James Brown's "I Want to Take You Higher." Then Doug E. and KMD joined Maseo on stage. Doug E. did his usual rap show. GSC performed the usual array of Sly songs with Hair, the Jam, and the bass/ drum duet from GSC 2000.

Highlights were a "country version" of Alphabet Street,
the NPG/sax jams with Maseo, and the encore of Purple Rain. The show ended a little before 6 am.
