Family Jamm! LATEST NEWS

There is a new LATEST NEWS page for the Family Jamm! on the Lil Angel Bunny Foundation site: http://www.lilangelbunny....jnews.html

It has some background info about the Family Jamm! and the artists who are performing for free so that the money can go to LABF to build a center for disadvantaged children, the auction winners, DVD and Prince.

it says this about Prince :

Prince's Involvement
New and exciting artists are confirming for the Family Jamm! every week. There have been many rumors about Prince's participation. With regard to him, we would love it if he would participate. He has an open invitation, but to date, has not responded.

smile
Well, uhm... whats new then in this topic?
If Prince should come, i think this is the only news that could really concern us..

1. The Auction Winners are Listed.

2. Info on the DVD that everyone has requested

3. Not everything revolves around Prince.

I'm not saying this just to be nasty, but a lot of people are really interested in attending this event.

Since the web-site hadn't been updated since the auction, at least we have some answers to our questions.

Thanks for your participation...

have a nice day.

No DVD sad which leads me to think Prince's involvement in this project is possible quite big.

But then again no Prince (yet). I don't know why they can't just say yes Prince is performing or no Prince is definitely not performing. All this secrecy again leads me to the same conclusion a above.

The last time I checked the auction (around 8:00 et) it was over $2000 for each package.

Since the auction ran until 12 midnight (ET or PT) I have no idea what the final bids were.

I'm also disappointed that there won't be a DVD. I'm so hoping they'll announce ticket prices soon so I'll know if I can attend.

Which is exactly why they should officially film it, release it, and the money could go to the charity.

And if not that, take the soundboard recording, turn it into a 2 cd set and sell it off Shelia E's website!

I totally agree, especially that the Foundation should get the money not some greedy bootlegger.

Unfortunately, I would guess that the CD would have the same legal issues as a DVD. We need a copyright lawyer to get with them and help them out pro bono! smile

sad Sniff...no DVD.

Darn, that would continue to provide help to the Lil Bunny cause for many, many years.

It would be like the one of the essential Prince related DVD's/Videos to own.

I REALLY, REALLY hope they consider and get past the legal ramifications, I really do.

At least maybe an audio album/CD(s) would be great!

Extremely cool that Sheila listens to the fans/fams and acknowledges our input and ideas! That's fabulous!

OR, everyone who gets a bootleg copy, mail a check for $40 to LABF? Let the bootleggers do all the work.. hmm

It amazes me how hypocritical Prince is. I remember his rantings on his website about "cover songs", yet he has not only performed numerous cover songs both historically, and recently...but has also recorded and released them (for profit)!

Most importantly, I would think his EXTREME religous ideology would obige him to lend his fame and following to an event that's sole purpose is to support abused children!

I am curious to hear what others think. Can you rationalize this away?

I still don't understand who is going to be singing lead on a night of Prince songs.

I do love how Sheila is handling him, though, like the true ex-girlfriend and love of his life that she is. She understands that Prince doesn't respond at all to pressure. Backing off him is probably the best way to get him to come.

I don't understand what the problem is with releasing a DVD.As long as every artist imvolved signs a waiver for a release or a DVD,i dont see what any record company can do.I really hope that this thing doesnt fizzle. I must admit,i am losing alittle bit of steam about this whole concert.Dont get me wrong,I would love tobe there or even see it on tv but things seem to be getting alittle complicated. Lets hope for the best.

I could understand if it was being kept secret. But with this being Sheila's project...I'd think she would merit a response. Since they have maintained a friendship for so long.

As far as the DVD is concerned...Even though they all played on it, is it even possible for them to secure the rights to film this for distribution without Prince's consent?

If Prince is not attending, he is also probably paranoid in a Prince kind of way about legal issues concerning his publishing rights for his music released on a DVD of this show. We all know how Priince likes to be "#1 at the bank..." He could just be bent out of shape because he didn't come up with the idea or the fact most of those people probably wouldn't have participated if he had put it together. Or maybe it has something to do with him performing his songs for "the last time", it's all speculation eek)

Somebody help me here...
Would WB make any money from the sale of the DVD? Most of the songs will be from the 80's would they need their ok?
If this is Prince's call I wonder what the problem would be with giving the foundation permission to record and resale the concert.

prince has the right to release any of his prior songs as long as they aren't the original masters. he can legally remake every album that he ever created for WB.I would love to see him remake every album live.I said that to say that yes he would have know problem with releasing this on DVD.I cant speak for the other artists, but I cant see any problems with them as long as there singing songs that prince or any other artists other than them wrote.

I don't think that the problem is with the record companies as much as it would be with the artists dealing with splitting the money. That is where u will have the biggest headaches.I know that it is for charity, but i bet u that this is where the problems lies.
