His prolific purple majesty has often cited DiFranco's Righteous Babe label as his the template for his new indie ventures, and he invited DiFranco to sing and play guitar on his Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic album, returning the favor with a guest shot on DiFranco's To The Teeth. And last year, after a sold-out Minneapolis gig, the Purple One invited DiFranco to an all-night jam at Paisley Park. Which brings to mind one last question: Who's taller, Ani or Prince?



DiFranco laughs out loud before framing a diplomatic answer. "I don't know if I wanna go there," she says, still chuckling. "I've been wearing my colossal platform boots for so long that I've gotten used to being taller than I really am. But I will say this--my platform shoes are bigger than his platform shoes."
