Jeff Beck talks about Prince in Rolling Stone Hi everybody. In the recent german edition of Rolling Stone (April 2001) they have two pages with Jeff Beck telling a bit about his favorite songs.
Besides for example James Brown's "Sex Machine" and Sly and the Family Stone's "I want to take you higher" (he particularly likes the Woodstock performance) he also mentions Prince with "When doves cry". He thinks it's a truely ground-breaking recording: he praised the drum programming, saying that it's very powerful, yet also minimalistic and hypnotic, he also likes his voice that crosses the barriers between male and female and said that Prince is a very gifted guitar player. Finally he said that in everything Prince does, it seems like he cannot do wrong. Very nice I think, since Jeff Beck himself is a great and respected musician. | |
