Prince gets a nod in Rolling Stone's 'Letters to the Editor' regarding 'Top 100 guitarists'

In the new Rolling Stone issue with Johnny Cash on front, the 'Letters to the Editor' section devotes an entire page to readers unhappy with various ommissions to the list of greatest guitarists. They published one Jeff Beran of Bloomington, IL who writes "Um, have you ever heard of a crazy little thing called Prince?" Unfortunately, my submission didn't get published, but they must have received enough mail to know they left a deserving talent off their list.

I remember flipping through that section from 100 down to number 1 and I kept expecting to see Prince on there. So I'm up to like number 20 and I'm thinkin', man, they must have rated him higher than I thought! Only to find out he didn't even make the top 100. BOOO!

Guys, I must tell you that the entertainment business ALWAYS makes sure they their people show up on list like this. That their people are seen in the right places at the right time by the right audience. Given that fact, we all know that Prince has no such people anymore. (IE Warner Brothers)

Add in a person who has told the industry to F-off, and you get what you get. Almost no COVERAGE. -Mg

Seems like all of us here knows The Kid has some special on that lead; there are plenty of songs that I steal keep a cassette deck around so I can here those lead parts over and over again, he he! (can't do that with a CD)! Example D.M.S.R. long extended live version. You all ever heard that?

Prince not only gets a mention, but a whole list of his own in the September 26 issue of Entertainment Weekly...basically it's a list of more lists! In the list "Penned by Prince" They have Tevin Campbell, Joe Cocker, The Time (they only list 10), but I never knew that Herbie Hancock recorded "Thieves in the temple"?! Is that in reference to his Buddahism? Hmmm... He's also mentioned in "Great album closers" "Car Tunes". What strikes me funny is that, when reading through all these lists, I'm realizing that Prince could've been in ALL of those lists!
That's all! I just had to share!
