"Behind the Music: 1984" to air in the UK

Prince should appear on UK Channel 5's forthcoming "80s weekend", the following programme for sure.

Behind The Music: 1984, 12.40pm

It was the year that George Orwell warned us about, but, despite the dark foreboding of Orwells' novel, 1984 was less Big Brother and more big hits, big hair and big changes. It was a year of blockbuster success for Prince, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen and a couple of girls who just wanted to have fun - Madonna and Cyndi Lauper. From the material girl to Boy George, 1984 was a year of diversity, both sexual and cultural. Also, who could forget when the Queen of Rock, Tina Turner, reclaimed her throne, and pop music royalty came to the rescue of starving Africa with Band Aid. This documentary gives a look at the year Orwell could never have predicted.

He may be included on other programmes during their weekend but it all looks a bit of a cheap mess banking in on The success of BBC2's 80s series'.
