New Dez Dickerson autobiography

It's for sale on ebay - $19.99 a copy. I emailed Dez's company directly and asked if this was the real deal. They (he?) confirmed that it is.

MY TIME WITH PRINCE - CONFESSIONS OF A REVOLUTIONARY The personal memoirs of original Prince guitarist Dez Dickerson. For the first time, original Prince guitarist Dez Dickerson shares his personal experiences from inside the meteoric rise of Prince. A true, insider's look through the eyes of a man that was there. Unlike the many third-party biographies that have been written, this is a first person account of the Prince phenomenon. From the days of Pepe's basement to "Little Red Corvette", find out what the real story was. Includes never-before-published personal photos from Dez's private collection. This is a MUST for every true Prince fan. Available only from Pavilion Press. SPECIAL BONUS!!! FREE autographed & personalized 8X10 with first 500 orders. Upon ordering, you will receive by mail, your free 8X10, and a password and web address so you can download your ebook. Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery.

[I'm trying to get those guys to donate a few copies for us to give away, but apparently they don't want publicity from us, or they're just slow sad Anyhow, sounds like a must-read...! I bought my copy. --Ben]

Sure, I'll probably order a copy eventually. I, for one, don't need Dez's autograph, so I'll wait to see what the eager first 500 say about the book (assuming it exists) before placing my order.

1) they usually have a timeframe, which could have expired

2) He could be banking on makin enough money from the sales of this book to outweigh the financial loss of being sued.

3) The book could be a very wet rose tinted version that Prince / Paisley Park are only too happy to approve.

we'll see.

I remember Miko Weaver (Prince's guitarist from late 1986-1990) was interviewed for Uptown magazine several years ago.He mentioned that he would one day tell everything,"the dirt",as he put it."Now ain't the time for that",he said.

Perhaps he's just waiting for the confidentality agreement to expire? LOL

I have a feeling that Dez never had to sign anything. I think that crap started around the time of "Purple Rain" when Dez was basically out of the picture, really. "The Modernaires" not withstanding.

Dez waited too long to cash in on his Prince connection. It's been over 20 years since he was in the Prince camp.

I have just confirmed that this is real but the downside is that it is only on Ebook for the near future. If there is a demand for a regular book, they'll look into it.

To contact them regarding wanting a regular book to be published, email them at:

absoluteguys@aol.com

They said to me:
"I understand (that there are people who can't read the ebooks), and hopefully people will contact us for other option. But I don't want to mislead people into thinking hard copy is right around the corner.
However, if you know of others who cannot use ebook, you may suggest that they also email us this request."

Drop them a note if you want to get a book actually published.

I also mentioned that he should do Sheila's concert and the reply was:

"I'm sure he'd be delighted to participate."

I gave him the info to contact her. Hope it happens!
The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

That is why Dez stands above many of the other Prince associates. He found the Lord before all of them and then struck out on his own early - before the Purple Rain bandwagon hitched up. He wasnt trying to cash in - no donated track from Prince; no Paisley Park contract; no sound a like funk on his debut. He started his own label and rocked the Christian rock music while producing other religious bands. His album is good nad it doesnt preach while getting the messege across.

CHeers for Dez!

This sounds like a good book from an awesome guitarist.

Here is something Dez related I found online looking for info on the new book.
