Lenny Kravits talks about Prince The July issue of Touch magazine with Jennifer Lopez on the
cover, has an interesting interview with Lenny Kravitz. There is some discussion of The Artist in the article. Q) What about collaborations with someone like Prince? He and I have collaborated but it's private and noone's heard it. Q) Oh really? We jam quite a bit live at clubs or in concert. But we've actually recorded and I'm actually on one of his records that was out. Q) And let me guess, you're not not going to tell me? (laughing) No, I can't. (laughing) We always promised that it was kinda like a thing that we do for our own memory. But at some point I'm sure we will do something. But I just did some great recordings with Bootsy (collins). Q) That Prince thing brings to mind another quote of yours. 'Bring any musician in here and I'll outplay them. On any stage'. Well no, the point was that people put Prince down now and a lot of people give me a lot of flack. The reason that we respect each other so much is that we can play. We can truly play, and on whatever instrument. People talk so much shit about us but come fuck with us in a jam session and you won't last. The writer also comments that Lenny Kravitz is 'weird' because you can't predict what he's going to do next. It also reads that some see him as a credible successor to Sly Stone and Hendrix, a claim I believe Kravitz himself would decline. | |
