Amp Fiddler's recent releases I am sending this in because the past year has seen quite a few releases sporting legendary Detroiter, Joseph "Amp" Fiddler's name.
For those who care, Amp played keys on and added vox to P's "We Can Funk" as well as being a main player on George Clinton's Paisley Park albums. He is a truly funky soul that has blessed many an artist with his keyboard and vocal flow. Do some research and you may be amazed at some of the Big Leaguers he has played with...from George to Maxwell, to Moodymann to Jay Dee... He has had 2 solo EP's come out recently: "Basementality" and "Love + War". Both on the Genuine label...and both teasers to his highly anticipated and LONG OVERDUE sophmore LP that will be dropping around January. A couple of other noted joints he has rocked on recently are, the new Only Child "Solitaire" album (Grand Central) and the jazz album of the year (my opinion), by Carl Craig's Detroit Experiment (Rope-a-Dope Records). For more info and a short interview with Amp, check: http://www.alive.co.uk/i-amp.htm ...and be sure to catch his live show if it swings your way. He played killer sets here in Detroit at this years Movement electronic music fest and a couple weeks back at "Instant Vintage"

"GC's PP's"...nice...
Let's see... George Clinton's Paisley Parks Hm. Took about two seconds and 30 keystrokes in two seconds, no wait, 34 characters counting the shift key, how hard is that? That title made no sense to me.

Jazzvibrator, my man!
Amp Fiddler is the business! He's making his UK debut this November and I am VERY excited. Those EP's blew my mind & apparently he's got a new 12" out on Ubiquity billed as John Arnold & Amp Fiddler 'Get Yourself Together' which is only on US import over here at the mo. He's the man, folks. Think D'Angelo for the dancefloor. Stunning. And big thanks for linking to the interview I did with him, Jazzvibrator. I did it on the phone at lunchtime so over in Detroit it was about 8am in the morning and it was a bad line - so it could have been better but he was a great guy! since it wasn't mentioned, for those who don't know:
Amp's first disc was credited to "Mr.Fiddler" and it's called "With Respect" ...it came out in 1990. Too much early'90s' drum machine sound, but there's some cool riffs and all the pfunk allumni get to stretch out on the tracks!
