Hello,

Has anyone heard about this?...I work for DIRECTV and there was a request that came through our office today concerning Prince. I am not allowed to go into details concerning his "request" but the bottomline is that there are plans to run a "freeview" concert in November. What this means is that all month long on weekends DIRECTV will telecast a concert for free to all it's subscribers. I haven't heard anything anywhere, and was only told about the "request" because somebody remembered I have the 'symbol' tattoo on my arm and they know I am a follower of him. I am assuming it is the Las Vegas show. But I could be wrong...

Anyone know about this?

I think if this is legit, then it's cool. Im not doubting u one800, but it sounds like u are not too sure yourself.

Coming from the UK, what is directv?. What happens 1800 if you do divulge here what you cannot, will people in your office read this or know about it?

First off I dont' think he would be asking if we knew anything about it if he was completely sure hence the reason he is asking...
secondly I also have a tatoo of the symbol ( me and Prince actually discussed it) and it doesnt' bother me at all because it is still a trademark of his that is seen everywhere. I so believe it's on alot of things sold at NPGMC and so forth...

Bringing up the subject of tattoos. My brother in law also has the symbol in gold about his person. He is not embarrased that P has changed his name. he views it as something to show how much of a fan he is.

i prefer not to have a tattoo as i dont like them, however it does not show any less how much of a fan i am, each to his own.

Actually I have Direct TV and I have watched the Free Concert Series from time to time. I would have to say that IF it happens then they will be showing Live at the Aladdin. I have noticed that when an artist releases a new concert, DTV will run the show not long after it been released for purchase. For example; Direct TV has shown concert by Phil Collins, Kenny Loggins (the acoustic set), NIN, and Yes soon after thier recent video releases. Also you need to remember that DTV did show the Rave Into the Year 2000 concert before anyone else.

And on another note; I too have the Prince symbol on my leg (in purple) and I don`t get any comments. My co-workers know that IM a die hard P. fan and that is that. However they think that Prince`s last album was 1999.

I'm also hooked up for DIRECTV and check their FREEVIEW sessions. Usually it's just a replay of a recently released DVD. There have been releases from BOB MARLEY LIVE on SUNSET, a RUSH concert plus the ERIC CLAPTON and U2 DVDs from last year. This will probably just be an airiing of the ALADDIN disc. These programs are very succesful marketing tools. I went out and got the Marley and Clapton shows. after watching.

so funny I know what you mean. You say "You know Prince" and they are like "Ohhh yeah Purple Rain". LOL I just laugh and say "You are really missing out"

I have three tattoos and also want the Prince symbol. I have one on my lower back, one below my collar bone, and one on my shoulder. What's a good place for 'the symbol'? Preferably somewhere that won't stretch if I gained weight. Any suggestions?

i also have the symbol tattoo on my arm. i got it before he changed his name. for all u that don't know...the symbol goes back to 1982, on his 1999 album. it is also seen on his purple rain bike and graffiti bridge bike, and don't forget about the 3 gold, purple and black guitars that have the shape of the symbol on them. the symbol will ALWAYS represent prince in some shape or manner.

I got the symbol tat on my arm as well, and my girlfriend has it on her back.

WHAT THE FUCK!!!...I posted this message last night...I woke up this morning and before heading out to work I decided to check the org. to see if my post was there and it was...with 6 comments...how exciting...I pulled up the link to read and guess what...nothing but bitching...WHY?...I have had to defend my musical choice to everyone who doesn't know Prince's music but his "freeky, sick, weird" self..and now I have to do it on a Prince page...do you see something wrong here?...I do...FUCK YOU if you don't like my tattoo...I got it for me, not for you..I have been listening/collecting Prince items since "Dirty Mind" so I qualify as hardcore. If you don't have nothing nice to say, then shut the fuck up...sorry for all the rage but this shit makes me mad..I signed on right now and read the remaining posts after the 6th one...THANK YOU FAM!!!...I knew you were there...these are the people I want to hang out at a Prince aftershow...the partypeople...I thought this was a page to post news on Prince. I posted something that I haven't heard until I found out about it at work and look what happens...I would love to tell you more about the "deal" but I have a family to feed and I need my job...but it is great...I am keeping all of this info for my collection, right next to my prized signed 1999 album and Batman honeyjar and Graffiti Bridge pillowcase from Australia...thats enough from me...FACE DOWN...

Don't worry about the tattoo...I have the face painting from Purple Rain on my shoulder, and I don't regret getting it. It's all about what makes YOU happy. Also, I miss having Direct TV. I am overseas right now so...
