Entertainment Weekley mentions Prince In the new Issue of Entertainment Weekly in it's Oscar Music review about Artists/Songwriters best musical movie moments being skipped over by the Acadamy, they have a picture of Prince in the Purple Rain days BUT they list Prince's "Purple Rain" soundtrack as not being oscar-worthy since it did not win. Prince, in fact, did win an Oscar for "Best Original Soundtrack/ Musical Score" for "Purple Rain" in 1985. The other nominees that year were; "The Muppet Babies" and "The Songwriter". Not even the Acadamy could screw up by picking "The Animal Song" over the classic "When Doves Cry". I checked Ew's website for a link to the article but it is not available online yet. In the newsstand edition, all it does is list Prince's entire "Purple Rain" soundtrack in the losers section. J7 | |
