"I had seen a penis. I wasn't ready to do anything with it, but I had seen it. Someday, I knew, I'd touch one — hopefully one not so big, I thought — and someday do even more with it. I knew how to move my hips to Prince music. I knew I'd do just fine".

Ironic how it follows with this...

..."She lives in Riverside, California, with her husband and two kids"

So...her dream came true?

It is just a nice little ditty, to which probably a lot of people can relate.
The reason it is featured in the 'news' section is the few Prince mentions...

It might be a good idea to introduce a section on the frontpage which holds
a variety of recent sources holding Prince-mentions, rather than attaching a 'news'
label to it - it apparantly is not, as people keep politely mentioning the fact.

Woman Reminisces About PR

There, right in front of me, however, was a fully erect penis. I had always imagined that penises would stick out — as some indeed do — like a finger pointing out, perpendicular to the guy's body, but this one stood straight up. It was huge; it seemed to go halfway up his chest, and it was as purple as any of Prince's outfits.

Mem'ries light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored mem'ries of the way we were...

Hey freakyfeet --

I'm sorry for mentioning this and wasting your time. And to everyone else who was upset about having to look at this and having to read it -- I'm sorry.

Very good. I've contemplated writing something like that. Not specifically about Purple Rain, but about my relationship with Prince's music, which is spectacularly neurotic. smile

I certainly think it is. Prince is at that stage of his career where people should be coming out of the Purple closet to reminisce about his impact on music and in their lives. This is how lasting musical legends are perpetuated. For all the praise (and ridicule) that Prince has garnered, his impact is still not acknowledged as much as it should. I guess it's normal that an hardocre fan would believe that, but I honestly think Prince is vastly underrated as a pop culture phenomenon. I'm convinced that his place in pop culture history will become more significant in the next 10 years, especially if he and Warner have the sense to realize they are sitting on the most neglected catalogue in pop history. Any other artist would be reissued to the max, wspecially with the extraordinary wealth of unreleased material.

Absolutely agree, although as a discussion point rather than "News" on Prince and associated artists.

I thought the "discussion forums" were a good location for discussions regarding Prince's career and thoughts into his overall impact. In fact, that's where I originally read the link to this article.

The point I was (rather bluntly) making is that this isn't actually news. Now if there was no other news for a week on the front page then fair enough, however this was already in one of the discussion forums and there's plenty of other items on the front page that could be considered news.

Shame there's not more discussions like this in the forums though instead of "one track versus another track" pointless posts.

Any article about Prince and his music is legitimate news. You are going to see some Purple Rain reminescing in the mainstream press in 2004, and I certainly think the articles should appear in the News section.

This is funny! I probably shouldn't have sent this in as news. But it only takes a moment to glance at the headline and determine if it's something you'd be interested in reading further. Or, in case you make the mistake of clicking on the story ... only to find that it's not of any interest to you ... you can hurry and push the backspace button as quick as you can and you'll have only lost like ... 5 or 6 seconds of your time.

I agree, this "news item" never should have been approved. This story is about as bad as the one about the chick who added a verse to one of Prince's songs and brought it with her to a Prince soundcheck, got mad because Prince refused to accept it, then wrote a bullshit story about it here on the org, claiming that Prince mocked her. rolleyes rolleyes These kind of "stories" are a waste of my time. yawn zzz

Boy, It seems like you'all have a love/hate relationship with Prince. When he does what you want him to he is the "greatest"..but even when does release i believe his 4th live video in 18 years you still feel the need to criticize him endlessly..take a good look at what this artist has released in the last 25 years and compare it to any of his contemporaries..if there are any...no one comes close...I agree with the earlier comments that his catalogue is grossly neglected and is a treasure trove once egos are replaced with common sense($)..in the meantime..why do u criticize all this man has accomplished..look at the last two years and compatre his releases to anyone else...is there anyone who has given you what he has(no)..my point is while u constantly criticize everything he does..you may not see the forest through the trees...BTW i am not a blind 'fam'..
