UPTOWN publishes new edition of Turn it Up

In May 2001, UPTOWN publishes TURN IT UP 2.0 –
a fully updated and thoroughly revised version of TURN IT
UP, which was published in 1997. The new book is expanded
to 160 pages, documenting Prince’s recordings and
performances in meticulous detail, discussing both his
officially released music and unofficial tapes circulating
amongst a vast international network of collectors: u
nreleased songs, concerts and rehearsals, TV and radio
appearances. Bootleg records are not discussed, however,
since UPTOWN entered into an agreement with Prince’s
organisation in 1999 to avoid the documentation of these
types of illegal records. The book includes many new
features, including an exhaustive 1976-2000 sessionography
(listing nearly 1,200 tracks) and a survey of more than
450 unreleased songs. For all details about the book, go
to http://www.uptown.se/turnitup2 . The new UPTOWN issue
(#46), which is currently being dispatched to subscribers
(it should reach Tower stores within a week or so), also
contains information on the book.
