I was there, too, and my head is still reeling from the mindblowing performance he gave!!! The audience had nothing but love and respect for Prince and I don't remember hering one person yell "sing".
THANK YOU PRINCE, Don't listen to the naysayers! Aaron

THANK YOU PRINCE, Don't listen to the naysayers! Aaron That's the funny thing about rumors because the whole notion of the crowd chanting "sing" portrays us as ungrateful when you couldn't find a more joyous crowd. Imagine going to a DVD screening and finding out you are one of the exclusive few to see Prince live. Nobody was mad that's for sure.... . It probably was but I doubt we'll ever get to see an official release. It just doesn't make sense for Prince to release such a kick ass performance... 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Prince is a great musician and artist, I enjoyed the dvd! Its one of his best! and besides, the only person who should worry about commercial success is prince himself, he's doing what the hell he wants! so take it or leave it

I just wanted 2 confirm that as 1 of the NPGMC members who was at the aftershow in LA that I never heard a crowd yelling, "Sing." I was on the stage floor...stage left. We had a great time enjoying the pleasant surprise!
Shame to those who r reporting the fams being frusterated. There was no frusteration, just awe! It's 4 the Cause Mark Orange County, CA

- I can understand why you are so excited about the concert and it must have been truly great! I wish I was there. Must have been so cool. This NEWS album must sound great live, and they even played ´SHH´ (one of my all time faves). And it´s great that Prince is unpredictable again. Not the ´pop star´ but a musician. However, I dont like the way that you talk about the 95 NPG. They could be great when they wanted to. I love this new band, but I still prefer the 95 versions of Days of Wild and Santana Medley for example, not to mention the kick ass jam on She spoke to me (Vault album). Well, the fact is that Prince almost never gave them the chance they deserved. The 94-95 concerts were full of loops, samplers, chants and the band was forced to only keep the groove. A great musician like Barbarella was usually forced to play the samples or small solos ocasionally, and the keyboard solos were usually done by Prince then. Now Prince is more open. Renato does more solos in one concert than Barbarella did in a year! I am not trying to bring the ´who is the best band´ debate...it´s not the point. The point is that Prince changed focus. Now he is concentrating more on the MUSIC than ever before (when he still had those pop star gimmicks) and it´s great. Let´s hope he doesnt hire another guitar player

The current band is much tighter; Renato Neto is a gemious on keys; his style reminds me of some of the greatest cuban and salsa players. This is a great Jazz band where back in the mid-90s the NPG had an R&B appeal, they were probably more versatile back then but could't keep it as tight... as for the new DVD, its great, although it could do with more Prince solos on tha gueeetarrr... beSoFunky!! -"If U don't like,

- well, I still think they could be extremely tight when they wanted to, and more versatile. They could go from raw funk to hard rock and roll and even jazz. Good examples are ´Calhoun Square´, ´3 chains of gold´, ´She spoke 2 me´, ´Zanalee´, ´Endorphin Machine´ and ´Get Wild´. As I said before, the problem is that Prince didnt give them much freedom. But this new NPG is great too. Love them a lot.

If u have any doubt about how good the 1993 band was, listen to the 1993 Easter Sunday aftershow at DNA in San Francisco.
P opened with the Sacrifice of Victor tore the packed house up. P hnd had such a sore throat after the show that when I ran into Billy Sparks the next day at the Oakland Airport, he said that they'd have to push back the three LA shows the following weekend by a day in order to give P time to recover. Or listen to the Paisley Park NBA show in February of 1994. That was the fist time I visited the Paark and the first time he played the symbol guitar. Positivity, Bak1999

shygirl said: Just curious.
The Rolling Stone article about the show said people got frustrated toward the end of the performance and started shouting "Sing" to Prince. But this article and other fan reports don't mention that. Did the whole crowd start yelling, or just a few people? Either way, I wish I could have been there. i wish more artists would shut the F*(< up!

Rolling Stone magazine used to be a mag. with credibility. Now, they are just a sellout mag. with name tag for clout. Can someone say...Entertainment Tonight?
