Report on the Time gig Don't know how much is news about a Morris Day and the Time concert but I caught them for about the 20th time at the House of Blues in Hollywood on the sunset Strip. Terry Lewis was with the band so that had 2 bass players. I remember them having 3 keyboard players in past performances (Monte and 2 big, fat guys) but one of the fat guys was gone. Whoever that guy is on the guitar damn near stole the show since they played all a good number of the guitar songs like "Blondie" and "My Drawers". I can't remember when I heard them do both.
They kicked off the set with "The Oaktree" which was a refreshing break from their 15 year old set list. As usual, the part of the show (just prior to "Ice Cream Castles") where they drag all the sleaziest chicks from the crowd up on the stage bogged the show down. But how you gonna argue when they start doing the funky peguin and then thoroughly kick your ass with the finale "Jungle Love"? I woke up the next morning saying "WHAT TIME IS IT?" like I always do after a Time concert. | |
