Q lists Prince among 100 greatest stars of the century Prince has been listed in the excellent Q magazines top 100 greatest stars of
the 20th century. He clocked in at a low 67 with the following comments: "Matching a multi-instrumental talent with devilish good looks, hypnotic dancing qualities and fearless innovation as a producer, for much of the 80's, Prince Rogers Nelson threatened to be the greatest recording artist of the post-Beatle 20th century. His run took off with "When Doves Cry" from 1984's Purple Rain and ended with 1988's super funky Lovesexy - each successive album supported by ground breaking tours. Then he lost the plot, changed his name and it went pear tarte tatin" They go on to say "Recommended album - Parade, otherworldly orchestration, transcendental pop, dirty funk - all under one roof". A few months ago, Q listed Parade as one of the top 10 essential Dance albums people should own, saying it broke all barriers of dance with tracks like "Kiss," "New Position" and "Girls and Boys." Its a pity there comments are so accurate! | |
