In classic Prince fashion, he is pimping the idiots who beleive everything that they read or hear and take it literally. He says and does stuff just to fuck with you and get publicity. It is quite ingenious because it keeps him in the news since the general public doesnt always hear her new music. It has to be an experiment to see how much they will get and to see how loyal some fams are.

3) Maybe you and everyone else should find something else to do with your time. Instead of hanging out at this site all day and ranting about a person you do not even know.
It is obvious that most people are not going to send anything so why are you getting your underware in a twist over the matter.

I'm not losing sleep over this, and no one else is either. It's a topic worth discussing. You just don't like people to say negative things about Prince.

My take is that this to shall pass and in a few weeks the nay sayers will be right back on this site.

No one is leaving this site now. The good thing about this site is that we're all free to discuss all issues, positive and negative.

Ok folks, chill out. A quick word to the wise about the business that is music.

First of all, the email from NPGMC was very poorly worded, lacking in explanation and a tad condescending. I concur with the above about Prince getting a decent manager again, or at least a NPGMC manager with a titter of wit and communication skills.

My reading of this, based on about 20 years in the music biz is that WB may have failed to submit returns for these specific releases on sales statements and in turn royalty payments; in effect inferring that they were never relesed. Thus to prove they were, Prince needs evidence.

They should explain the scenario, ask if anyone who has these recordings would be prepared to provide details of where they were obtained and when (if they can remember), a signed affidavit to that effect, and if some kind of re-imbursement is offered, would they be prepared to send them to Ohio, or wherever.

But CHEESUS what a way to ask for them!!

As for the bootlegs, well thats another matter, totally illegal but a waste of time even trying to enforce. "Crying after spilt milk" springs to mind.

Prince, relax about the boots man, fans are gonna buy your live releases no matter how many boots they have or are out there. The impact on your financial gains from this practice, albeit morally questionable and upsetting for an artist, is negligable and you could NEVER hope to make any major impact to deter it. All you would really be doing is persecuting real fans who enjoy hearing everything they can; YET STILL BUY THE OFFICIAL RELEASES. Casual record buyers dont buy, or have no clue where to buy bootlegs, and they make up the vast majority; so forget this insurmountable cruscade and concentrate on making records that those masses will once again wish to buy, OFFICIALLY.

I love you people.

When I got that email, I was like, "this is gonna be fuuunnn." I have a theory that P is a rabid orger and was sick and tired of it being so boring around here.

If it would actually help the brother out somehow, I would happily send him my one actual bootleg album (Fantasia, a bday gift several years ago). . .the rest of my unauthorized collection is all tapes and cd-rs from fellow Orgers who sent them to me, for free, just to be nice.

The problem is, it is entirely unclear what the fuck he's planning to DO with these. The court thing is bullshit. . .it would prove nothing, and provide no useful data, to have random fans send back random recordings purchased in random locations. That's just a lie. I need an actual reason to spend my money to send one of my personal belongings to a random po box in Ohio. "Prince wants me to" has not, thus far, been a good enough reason for me to do ANYthing in my life, and that has not changed.

So, I emailed them back, and politely asked why they wanted us to do this. I have not received a response.
