HarMar Superstar mentions Prince in interview for Q magazine

Quicktime video interview with Harmar at Glastonbury. Takes a while to load up, but at least he brought his Manumission girls with him in the caravan...

What does he actually say about Prince?
"London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"

"YEAH!!!"

"Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

They asked him who his ideal headliner would be for Glastonbury, and he said "Prince!". He then went on to say that he thought he was supposed to be there this year and would be really good there.

Har Mar is my hero. He needs to get the hell out of Ibiza and get back to the US.

I'm sorry but this guy is talentless, ugly and just plain old rubbish! I had the misfortune to see him support the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, he is an overweight, balding, repulsive, sleazy sorta guy who loves himself sooo much! All of this would be forgivable if he had even an iota of talent which he hasn't! His act consists of him singing ?!!??? to a backin track from a boombox or tape machine and stripping down to his Y fronts(shudders). I cannot for the life of me understand why he has a record contract. Some of the music press and media have called him the new Prince! Ha ha ha hahaaa!!! The only thing they have in common is they are both from Minnesota.

I lived in MN most of my life and we used to make so much fun of this guy, it blows my mind that he has a following at all. Fucking Har Mar Mall is where he got the name. Totally lame and pretty funny at the same time.

This guy's just a joker. He's to r'n'b what Spinal Tap were to heavy metal, and he knows it. No need to get indignant at him, as he's quite happy to have the piss taken. He's just a satirist. Thing is, to do satire successfully, you have to know the rules in order to break them, right? With that in mind, he's also written songs (under his real name) for Jennifer Lopez and the like. I guess he clearly knows what he's doing at least.

Yeah, I really had high expectations for this guy when I read that article. But he doesn't sound like that legendary New Wave/Funk that made Prince a crucial artist. That guy's just some bland mainstream hip-hop/r&b. What makes him compare to Prince? The fact that Har Mar has a "dirty mind" too? I'm sorry but I really see nothing groundbreaking or innovative with this guy. Listening to his CD was like an anti-climax for me.
