First report on San Francisco performance First thing first, awsome show!! I've seen Prince since the early 1980's and this has to be one of his tightest shows in years. The doors didn't open until well after 8pm. The Skye was standing room only as we were packed in like sardines. The NPG didn't get on until just after 9:30 and played until a quarter til midnight. He did two encores but at $100/head, you might think it would be a 2am+ show. The place holds about 700 folks so it was intimate enough for everyone. It wasn't billed as a "Hit and Run" show but they did all of the songs you've been reading in other posts. I'm sure someone will post a setlist as I was too close to the stage to even think about what he was playing or going to play. One thing I do have to say is that I still am not used to the "greatest hits/medley" theme to his performances. Geneva complements him very well. Blackwell ROCKS!!! He did a very good rendition of Purple Rain where in the midst, he talked about not letting anyone take away his love for God. I'm sure he was referring to the Antichrist as he feels the time is near. All in all, superb show, and now, on to Vegas! | |
