talk about energy... talk about noise... talk about jammin` (real) music and u`r probably talkin` about 2night`s performance by prince and the npg in houston tx. there must b somethin` about this town that the man takes a liking 2. i`ve seen him many times, in many cities, but it seems as though there is always one point at every houston show when it gets deafening and the energy all but shakes the house we in 2 its foundation. i think he knows this 4 he made a few comments 2 that effect 2night which everyone felt. new power houston was definitly in da house and it was sho`nuf a `family affair` up in there. the drums banged hard 2night. blackwell was on, and then some... najee had the crowd swooning and even made my baby scream one time... the guitar solos scorched the crowd (especilly during `never take the place...`) u could see it in his face that he knew he nailed it and every one there after only got stronger... geneva was tight, `in more ways than 6`... kip sounded in very strong voice... and as always, rhonda and `my man` mr. hayes were their usual brilliant... the sound mixing however, left much 2 b desired. although it did improve as the show went on, u could see that the man himself was quite annoyed at times. but even the worst sound can`t destroy a high quality performance like the one we got. the highest-of-lights 4 me were: the opening sequence with `uptown`, `controversy` and `mutiny`. not just the songs, but the crowds reaction was inspiring. `scandalous` was HOT due 2 one of the girls from the audience being seriously worked over by prince. he worked her so bad that every girl in there felt it,(and some of the men 2). the blusey version of `i would die 4 u` and `baby i`m a *` were incredibly well done and well timed. the guitar solos hit the mark, and then split the arrow. but MOST OF ALL, and what i`ll NEVER 4get is when my beautiful wife was the first `girl in red` prince chose 2 join him on stage during one of the funkiest versions of `kiss` i`ve ever heard. not only did she look so good, but she took the time 2 blow me 2 handfuls of kisses while she was up there. TOTALLY MADE MY NIGHT!!! all i can say is, prince, u got good taste brotha`. thanks 4 such a fun evening of jammin` music and cherished memories...
