The night began with a party that HABIBI of the NPGNC [ better known as
NUPOWARGNARATN01 ] threw in the basement of his home...which he's taking
the
liberty 2 name THE PURPLE UNDERGROUND. This party was off the
hook...Blacklights all over the room that was covered from top 2 bottom
with
PRINCE pictures,Posters, etc. Very nice hangout 4 the average PRINCE fan.
The
music was officially off the hook as well with mix cd's that mixed up
just
about all of the PRINCE music that makes u dance. Definitely got us in
the
mind state 4 the show at INDEPENDANCE.



After everyone was shiney and happy at the PURPLE UNDERGROUND , we
all stopped partying at about 5:30 and began our caravan from WINSTON
SALEM 2
CHARLOTTE. Lets just say that it was a lot of people at the NPGNC party
and
there was about a 20 car caravan 2 CHARLOTTE which made my blood race in
excitement 2 see.



When we arrive at the ARENA ..we all check in and get our tickets
and
hang out in the lobby..I WAS THE GUY IN THE PURPLE/GOLD NPG HOCKEY JERSEY
WITH THE BLACK SYMBOL BEANIE/HEADBAND w/ NPG HAT ON AND THE NICE GOLD
CUBAN
LINKED CHAIN WITH SYMBOL..LIGHTSKINNED BROTHA WITH GLASSES? anyway after
peeping out the scene of the lobby we realize the noticably tall guy with
gold hair standing in front of the bathroom...MORRIS HAYES...so I walk up
2
him and shake his hand and ask him where the AFTERSHOW would be..." We
probably won't play , but we will hang out" " U comin?" Morris said.
"DUH"!!
was my response 2 him.



So after a few ICEHOUSES and cigarettes the entourage was ready 2
sit
down so we make it 2 the floor . Waiting 4 the show 2 start we realize
that
STEVIE was playing and it automatically relaxed the crowd. Next thing U
know
POP LIFE begans 2 play and it's some fonky ass remix, followed by a mix
of
PRINCE Party songs with hip hop beats remixed in. HABIBI jumps up and
looses
his mind because he makes NPG mix cd's and he really wanted this mix. He
runs
2 the sound table and asked the guy where it came from and the guy said
that
he didn't know. Then HABIBI told him that he'll make his own, which as we
speak, he's doing.



Anyway the show starts and its ELECTRIC off tops. Mainly because
this
is the weekend after Thanksgiving and everyone is in a loving/partying
mood.PRINCE couldn't have picked a better city and a better time 2
perform.
The set list consist of the same songs performed on other HIT N RUN
dates.
But with each song it was electric as if we heard it 4 the 1st time.
GENEVA,GENEVA,GENEVA...basically hypnotized me with her grace MAYTE
WHO??? On
" COME ON" HABIBI and I rushed the stage and tried 2 get up on stage.
GENEVA
looked at me with this look as if " U WANT THIS"? and i said " GENEVA
C'MON
BABY" beggin like...and she shook her head and walked the other direction
and
grabbed some other scrub. GENEVA GIRL, I 4GIVE U, because PRINCE came
right
over 2 where we were with the ONE EYED BASE and made eye contact with me
and
HABIBI and the 3 of us began 2 communicate with out dialog...just funny
faces
and dancin.



DESPITE of what's been posted on this site about the dates of past. The
sound
in CHARLOTTE was GREAT. NAJEE did his thing never 2 much NAJEE...MOM
PRINCE
was definitely happy 2 hear him blow. RHONDA IS FINE AS HELL!!!
especially
huggin on that stand up base. ELECTRIC CITY was the new name 4 CHARLOTTE
N.C
last night at the concert and the show went well.



The after party was at club MYTHOS which is uptown CHARLOTTE.
There
was confusion on exactly where it would be considering that club 2000
announced an after party of their own. At the end of the show it was
announced that the "AFTER PARTY" not show was at MYTHOS. Remembering
what
MORRIS told us in the lobby, we didn't expect them 2 perform..but 4 the
NPG 2
show up. Got 2 MYTHOS and it was PACKED!! 2 the point where we really
didn't
want 2 go in because it was so many of us. Some of the NPGNC went home
after
the show , the sober ones went 2 MYTHOS and hung out 4 a while. It was
never
really verified that PRINCE AND THE N.P.G showed up but i think they did.
It
was so many people that if they did arrive..they probably would have
gotten
the same idea that we did and that was just 2 leave. NPGNC was upstairs and
when all the pushing and shoving started, none of us could get !
downstairs 2
see what was going on. We all were so tired and partied out that we
decided 2
leave. I must thank HABIBI [ NUPOWARGNARATN01] 4 the lovely evening and
the
hospitality that he gave 2 his fam, and 4 the bangin party. This show was
off
the hook as well and PRINCE did his thing.



HIGH POINTS: PRINCE SAYING..." There's a church on every corner down here
and
i'm scared of all of em'" referring 2 the different interpretations of
the
Bible/ DOUG FRESH 's rap /GENEVA's....well u get the picture.
