Another Milwaukee report The Hit and Run tour sound system is a travesty. Reports since the first show in Worcester make it clear that Prince is well aware that his sound system is insufficient.
6,000 people attended the show in Milwaukee. A good one-third of the audience -- those in the rear of the venue -- heard a low decibel level performance. It sounded like listening to a weak, cheap stereo system. I had talked up Prince and his greatness so much to non-fans that a co-worker of mine spent over $150 dollars on 3 tickets to the Milwaukee show. This co-worker was not impressed by Prince and is not speaking to me today. People who paid $50 for tickets couldn't hear a damned thing toward the back of the venue. The audience in the rear could not see Prince and could not hear him either. To add insult to injury, the afterparty was a rip off. They picked what has to be the worst sardine can club in the city, the Tom Tom Club, and packed hundreds of people in at $20 a person. People were wedged in there shoulder to shoulder for 2 hours waiting for Prince. It was impossible to even move. The Time, members of their entourage, members of Prince's entourage and band, along with certain select people from the club were in a sectioned off VIP area. Prince shows up after everyone has waited for 2 hours. He stays 10 minutes in the VIP area then leaves to get back on his tour bus. Shortly after Prince left the club, security guards linked arms and started shoving people and telling everyone it was time to leave the club. | |
