Yesterday afternoon I caught Sheila E's performance at the Percussive Arts Society's annual convention. What made it so special was that she performed with Alex Acuna, legendary percussionist who has performed with everyone from Weather Report to Chick Corea (more info at http://www.allmusic.com).



Sheila stressed that they did not plan for this performance, and that they were having a "discussion" as they played. They started on congas, moved to shakers, timbales, cajons, ended up on the drum set. Alex is legendary, and just as I thought he was leaving Sheila in the dust, she pulled out some intense shit!
