They tried to resolve years of hate in one day, which is just impossible. The source of Ed Norton's extreme racism was rolled up into one dinner scene where his father spouts off, and this just needed more exposition. The film is good, but it could have been amazing, given the heavy and important subject matter.
The director actually wanted his name removed from the film because he thought the editing needed more work...and it definitely did.

- well I agree with you...some things are resolved very fast, but compared to 95% of the stuff that Hollywood produces every year, this movie is a classic. I liked the actors, the dialogs, etc. It could have been only a little bigger

That's why you can't rely on Hollywood to serve you quality filmmaking. wink
Foreign films, independent films, and the like are the way to go...you're bound to wind up with something better than what's on the New Releases shelf at Blockbuster.
I just can't say it's a good movie "compared" to the rest of Hollywood's crap, although I definitely see your point. A flawed film is a flawed film, regardless of its company.
That's all I have to say! I promise!

Maybe he ORIGINALLY wanted the story
"leaked" and then decided it wasn't
what he wanted infered, and is now recanting...

NY Daily is notorious for having
Prince stories included by his publicist.

Why would a JW be hanging out at a burlesque show?!?

He didn't go to a burlesque show. If you re-read it, it says that Norton recently partied with Woody Harrelson at the show. Norton and Prince were at a club called Lotus.

I was going to post this same thing as I was baffled by the fact that some people don't read for detail and had painted a picture of Prince sitting at a girlie show. This is how rumors are started.

For the record I saw something on television about that club and the girls don't get nude. They get very close but they don't go nude (Not that P was there).

Yes but the party at the Lotus is where the Transvestites were not the Burlesque show. That is what the article says.

What-what-WHAT?! Is this a joke or did Prince and LaRue actually "hang out"?

Quotes from Chi Chi LaRue's autobiography 'Making it BIG: SeX Stars, Porn Film & Me':
"While I was at Green Mill, (pizza parlour in Minneapolis) I also became obsessed with the Artist Then Known as Prince. Prince, as you probably know, is from Minneapolis, and he frequesnted a local club called First Avenue, where he would occasionaly perform surprise shows with his band the Revolution. These concerts were never announced in advance, so you couldn't plan to be off work to attend, but I always managed to get there anyway. I'd have one friend or another, usually Debbie Wickland, hear of the impending show via the grapevine, and they'd know to call me at work to alert me. I'd tell whichever friend called, "Call me back in five minutes," and when he or she did, I'd claim some emergency that required me to leave work immediately: "What's that u say? The water main in my house broke, and my basement is flooded? I'll come right away!" And then off I'd skip to the concert.
This happened more often than I'd like to admit. But since Green mill paid me by the hour, it hurt me more than it hurt them. Sometimes I'd take home paychecks of $35 for two week's work. I wasn't getting rich, but it was a homey place, and my fellow employees were like a family to me. It was a good time..."

"I performed tirelessly, and my reputation grew. I was known in all the bars; everyone had met me or at least seen me perform. I schmoozed relentlessly, meeting people, charming them, leaving an impression. You don't become famous by accident. In my case it took a lot of hard work. I marketed myself furiously. My plan for self-promotion couldn't have been more intricately devised if it had been drawn up by a boardroom full of trained PR professionals. Chi Chi was going places, and you could either jump on the bandwagon or get out of the way before it ran your tired ass over.
Through devoutedly working the club circuit, I eventually became aquainted with the man I had so long idolised, Prince. This was the mid-80's, and Prince was at the peak of his popularity. Purple Rain was a box-office bonanza, and he had a harem of beautiful, glamorous, coattail-riding starlets: Vanity, Apollonia, Sheila E. At that time Prince was IT, and - at least socially - I was a friend of Prince's. We wouldn't call each other up and go over to each other's houses, but we'd hang together at the clubs or eat together at restaurants when a group of us were there. I think he liked the fact that my friend and I respected his privacy and didn't hang all over him the way other, more starstruck people did.
I was even given a bit role in purple Rain. I was in full drag, sitting in the front row of the theatre where Apollonia was performing 'SeX Shooter.' In my scene a comedian and a juggler were doing their preliminary act, and I was asked what i thought. My single line, which I rehearsed for days, was "Oh, that's so stupid!"
The final mix didn't quite work out like I'd hoped, though. A few weeks after shooting was completed, I ran into some members of the Revolution, who told me what a great close-up I had. But then I went to a special screening of the movie and found out...my scene had been cut out. I was heartbroken. Prince, my beloved Prince, had decided that there was too much Morris Day in the film and had rearranged things to feature himself more prominently. It was nothing personal, I suppose, but I was still very dissapointed."

I FUCKING LOVE Ms CHI CHI! bow
