Yep, I know what you're saying Jamzone333 and I agree that Mayte along with her mother probably planned things out together. I also wouldn't be surprised to learn that Mayte was unfaithful to Prince too, but I firmly believe that his MANY infidelities and the JW bs convinced her to give up on him.

I've seen this commercial a few times, but never paid much attention to it. Guess I'll have to look more closely next time I see it. To be honest though, the 'adolescent male' genre of commercials is usually my cue to go do somethng until the program I'm watching comes back on.

Why didn't one person give this guy the benefit of the doubt? Why does he have to be racist? I doubt that this guy is racist, and I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it. If a person has to be very careful as to how he puts his words, in fear that someone might think he is racist, maybe that person is racist. "I better be careful how I say this, they might find out I'm racist." If a person isn't racist at all, he doesn't think about his words, he just speaks freely. Nobody here has never seen a black person so light they wondered if they were black? Nothing wrong with it, human nature. That doesn't mean you're in the KKK.

Of course, I could be wrong about all of this. He may be a huge racist!!! But just thought I would show the other side.

It seems to me that some of you are too hard on Mayte. You have to remember how young and vulnerable she was when she met Prince. She had to endure years of his infidelity, not to mention his friendship with the almighty Larry and his JW conversion. She also was not allowed to discuss the death of her baby. Stop for a minute and imagine what that must've been like to have to act as though nothing was wrong. That poor girl was in agony over the loss of her baby and she has never been able to talk about it openly. I'm sure she can talk to her friends etc, but to have to sit in an interview and not be able to react when asked about it, that must've been very hard on her. I realize that I do not know the real story behind their relationship, but I would place my money on the fact that their breakup was his fault and his whacky religious beliefs and his infidelities played a huge part. She was his trophy, not his wife and that's just plain sad. I think he probably realizes that now, but it's too late.

That's a deep way of looking at it and I feel you.

NPD never made any racist accusations, just laughed at the color description. Seems to me NPD understood the comment, but Whendovescry took offense; assuming they were being criticized unfairly. I personally understood Whendoves' initial speculation, "light complexion- maybe black" (implying 'maybe not') as pretty benign. Too bad he/she then went out like a punk with the attack on NPD's grammar (talk about getting personal).

ANYWAY, I agree with what someone else said: a Zima commercial featuring nothing but Mayte just might get me to buy one biggrin

I focused on NPD's grammar to illustrate a greater point...He/She made a statement which everyone could understand...to critique his/her grammar was to show how insignificant his grammar was as was my description of the person on the commercial. In other words...it did not matter what was said by NPD he/she made their point...It did not matter if the person was Black, Asian etc my point was their is a commercial with Mayte in it. There was no reason to bring any "racial" thoughts to it...as it was not necessary to address NPD's grammar. Now can we forget about this...this is one of the reasons I don't post threads...no matter what, it always moves away from the subject and people begin to demean one another?
