Ken Dashow, a DJ for Q104.3 here in New York, just announced that George Harrison has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year!!! Finally! Other nominees include the Pretenders, Jackson Browne, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, the Sex Pistols, John Melencamp, Van Halen, Prince, Gram Parsons, Laura Nyro and Traffic.

It's about time Prince got nominated for the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. I can't think of any musician who deserves it more than he does.

There isn't a doubt in my mind that he will get in as his place in music history is secure.

How many do they usually let in because I'm thinking that Prince, Van Halen, and Melencamp have to be sure fire first ballot hall-of-famers. The Pretenders and Brown would round out a pretty terrific class.

and without a dobut prince has been and still is one of the most influential of the last 25 years...

Prince is an OBVIOUS choice. The induction will be something 4 us all 2 look forward 2. How about a Revolution reunion? Something 2 think about.

I am going to be updating the site with new info on the rock hall induction stuff.

But this link up above above states unconfirmed report from the Beatles site. I am a little iffy on this news. From earlier discussions here (see this thread). This mention of George Harrison and Prince, et al, is part of the final round (the pared down short list) that record execs and radio deejays and musicians and the like who will be tabulating their votes from.


I believe the actual induction class list will be announced in October-November time frame. Oh, and the moderator of that chat board aid it right here -- We're crossing our fingers. Nominations won't be announced until late summer or early fall.

Ohhh, the suspence. A great induction class, though!

Detroit Crawl motor baby crawl to Cleveland (live simulcast from New York City) will definitely happen if Prince is nominated into the hall (March 2004). On top of that it's the 20th anniversary of Purple Rain. Next year is shaping up to be one for the Prince books.

he had to wait 25 years because that's the time frame alloted for artists, it has to be 25 yrs after their first release.

I look at it as an a great accomplishment for P boy there.

You have to wait 25 years after your first release to get nominated. 1978 + 25 years = 2003 a lot of fans thought that Prince should have been included in this past april's inductees, but these inductees were nominated in 2002 so now prince is being nominated in 2003 for the april 2004 ceremony.

I can't say I'm surprised. He is deserving in every way. I was more surprised that he ranked 18 on the VH1 "100 Greatest Artists of Rock & Roll" beating MJ, Madonna and many others I figured VH1 would favor. I guess the VH1 voters (who ever they may be) know rock'n'roll! After seeing VH1's LAUGHABLE "100 Greatest Hip-Hop Artits" list that damn sure don't know hip-hop!

Congrats to the man...I hope he accepts the honor with pride.
