Personally I would be surprised if we all can buy the cd next week because it seems to be to easy compared to earlier projects. But I said too: But since everything is changeing constantly, Prince again, might surprise us all pleasantly this time! So why don't you just chill and wait. Prince might suprise you too. TC blueangel said: How interesting. You say you can't understand why people complain all the time, but you then go on to say that you would be surprised if all the members were able to ORDER it next week (let alone actually HAVE the thing), b/c compared to past projects it would be too easy. THAT'S why people complain. Well, one of the reasons! fran said: --- ¡It is really amazing to see you guys complaining all the time! Why don't you relax and wait till next week. On June 19th you will find out more about the music and the costs. The man is throwing a listening party, so if you don't like the music you don't have to purchase it. Personally I would be surprised if we all can buy the cd next week because it seems to be to easy compared to earlier projects. But since everything is changeing constantly, Prince again, might surprise us all pleasantly this time! Compared to last years music club I think the performance of the club has improved. It really looks like they try to do their best at PP. Concernig the $25 members fee, nobody is forcing anybody to join the club or to buy the music. Just don't forget that npgmc 03 is only 2 months old and it looks like we already do get new music. ¡May we all be able to see the world as it is and not the way we want it to be!

HA! I'm not joining his club. Sorry, no thanks. Been robbed to many times. I've never learned much about Prince and his music from his club or website. Advanced news??? LOL! Really now. Last year Best Buy had ONA..Live listed with a release date online (among other websites) while NPGMC was saying "We have no information at this time." When I emailed them to ask why we were getting all this info on the releases from everyone BUT them, they sent me a nasty email back saying that they were too busy trying to get the ONALive sets ready to ship to answer peoples silly questions and would I prefer they spend the time updating the news section or shipping out my CDs? [and yes, I do have the email saved on my hard drive.] I'm not trying to be a complainer, I'm just saying that you all should be carefull who you give your money to until they give you some real info... and follow thru on it. NPG has a bad track record. Too many lies and broken promises for this die hard fan. Nothing is real till its in my hand as far as prince is concerned. That may sound mean, but he earned it.

and...I think the $25US+shipping is STIFF (thought we were weeding out the middle men so that music could come down to a FAIR price). Little bit of greed goin' down, no?. I have no reason to join the club either, BUT I would BUY the CD. Oh-Kaaay NPGMC! I am with Red Screw signing up to a site for $25 bucks buy it when it comes out And i also agree with the fact that it would be bad marketing if he make the new CD for "members only" Worlds most beloved Orger

BWAHAAAHAHAHA!!!
All you fools rushing to "join the club" and get "your cd", ... but you don't even know WHEN it will be shipped ( I am gonna laugh harder when it takes again months and months to arrive and many won't even get it... as usual with Prince!!!) AND you don't even know HOW MUCH it will cost (I am going to laugh even harder when it is again 25$ for a weakass EP he dumps on you!) AND you don't even know whether it is shipping INCLUDED or not (guess how screwed you will be!!), AND you don't even know whether it will be 56 minutes of boring ass instrumental music Prince you don't want to have, or a kick ass piece of music you are going to have in your cd player for years and years. In fact you don't know shit, but you are still rushing to "get it" and "join the club"!!! "STOP BITCHING, ALL YOU KNOW WHAT TO IS BITCH. BE HAPPY AND JOIN THE CLUB AND THEN... JUST SHUT UP!!!" That's NEVER happened (unless you count the Rave DVD for $ 10 which was only announced AFTER it had been in shops and just about everybody had bought it already). Charging 25$ just to visit a site from which you will have the amazing opportunity to buy a cd is either:
- an insult to his fans, which will continue to shrink his fan base - the worst plan in the whole history of marketing (what about fans without computers ? what about the millions of potential listeners/lovers who don't even know that this guy exists?), which will continue to shrink his fan base Result = Less than 20.000 sold copies of prince's albums by 2010. Hey don't get me wrong, I don't care about a hit and I'll probably be among those 20.000. But whether you're a bitcher or not, you have to admit that few guys have ever managed their carreer as poorly as prince, and he definitely ranks first if you consider he has remained out of dope/alcohol...Maybe religion is the baddest sin of all, I don't know... PS: And please don't tell me no BS about freedom and how great it is to get an instrumental album...: he put out more albums/collaborations with Warner than since he's been on his own, and regarding the content he could always put out instrumental albums under a contract with Blue Note, which would offer great promotion and help him build a new image as a musician

blueangel. apologise if i came across abit agressive to say the least. i tend to read the forums but only the news items and not all the comments because of the tangents that everyone takes. Prince is not the best business man on the planet (hence he's a musician), but what can you do. We either try and help support what he's doing, seeing that everything is still experimental for an artist utilising the net barr the middle men and everything.
I can only hope that NPGMC has learnt from the previous mixup on delivery of the ONA live cd set which went horribly wrong for a lot of fams. The $25 is for a whole year so we need to judge its value at the end of the year. it does work out to be $2/month or $0.06/day if you take it at 365days etc. anyway peace, and i hope your cd arrives safely and you are surprised! purplefrank theblueangel said: Oh, I know where, all right. I take it you don't frequent the forums very often.
My comment about lying was overly harsh in that I didn't mean to attack you personally...just the idea you were presenting. purplefrank said: Just go with the flow. If you've got any criticism air your views on the site. You should know where if you've joined.

Therefore, if they have no computer, they can't join his club in order to pay for his new music. How many copies of his live album were shipped to stores? Prince, who is regarded as one of the best live acts, for the first time released a live album and it sank without making a trace on the Billboard charts. i think you are absolutely right except i honestly believe that Prince couldn't care less about Billboard or its damn charts. he released a live album and if you want it then you will get, if you don't then ok that's fine.

purplefrank said: All i can say is sit tight, the club is evolving. As for lying well, whereelse will you be able to hear about his first albumn NEWS from? Whereelse will you be able to buy tickets for any future gig/tours from? The club is in its third year. This is not the complex and time consuming matter that human evolution was. This is looking back over the last two years and seeing how poorly executed the club was, actually listening to the membership, seriously acknowledging the BBB complaints (which they did not), and doing something about it. Prince is just looking for other creative ways to get money from the few remaining suckers who will give it to him for virtually any reason. Granted, $25 is a lot less than $100, but you're also getting a lot less. He's also continuing the time honored NPGMC tradition of making you pay for simple access to a site so that you can what? Eventually pay even more to purchase actual product? As for alternative sources to hear about new Prince music, there are always music journals such as Billboard, Ice, Rolling Stone and the like. As for where we can order tickets to future tours, Ticketmaster was still in business, last time I checked.

Bzzzt, wrong. The club didn't start on Jan 1, but months later. Plus, what is the $25 for? At the end of the year, what did you get for $25? Here's the answer: NOTHING. "Opportunities" (to buy CDs and tickets etc.) MAYBE. But that's insane! The retail section of the site should be open to the general public and should not demand ridiculous shipping & handling fees. MAYBE regsitered members could have access to exclusive merchandise, but that shouldn't be CDs (certainly the music should be available to everyone who wants to buy it). Perhaps they should get a discount, or a store credit for part of the amount? I've NEVER seen something run as badly as NPGMC -- and then you realsie that this has been going on for nearly TEN YEARS (1-800-New-Funk started in 1994, IIRC). All that time plenty of people have offered numerous better solutions and pointed at other artists' ways of treating their fans, and things just get WORSE! I really wonder: does Samnation look at Amazon and then think "what would improve this site is: people had to pay to access it"? I mean: how hard is it to look around online and check out other e-shops and other artist websites and notice what works and what doesn't? Of course, the real question is: why is some lame Flash-animator like Samnation running Prince's online presence after years of proving that he isn't capable? Because he's cheap? Here is what Prince could be doing: http://livephish.com/ http://www.pearljambootlegs.com/ http://bobdylan.com/ http://www.livephish.com/...ng2003.asp : $110 for ALL ten concerts as SHN files (look it up what they are if you don't know what they are). Don't want to download, want real CDs + artwork? http://www.phish.com/dryg...html?cid=4 THAT is how you treat fans. Now compare to the 3 CD lamefest called "ONA Live". ...
