Does that mean people need to join the club ($25US) before they can order the CD?

Does Prince always have to make it difficult for casual music lovers to get his music?

No big deal to spend $25 to spend what? $20-$25 on a new Prince CD plus another $10-$15 for shipping?

Roughly $70 for one CD is a pretty big deal, actually. Especially some silly instrumental disc that's not even an hour long. Call me a killjoy, but that's a waste of money.

I don't think P would be so clueless as to not put up a splash page on the CD for NON-MEMBERS to purchase. That would be just plain BAD marketing.

and...I think the $25US+shipping is STIFF (thought we were weeding out the middle men so that music could come down to a FAIR price). Little bit of greed goin' down, no?.

I have no reason to join the club either, BUT I would BUY the CD. Oh-Kaaay NPGMC!

He has a site that you can't access without paying $25, yet nowhere is stated what you get for that $25. THAT is how stupid they are. And even worse are the fans who subscribed to this and praise it.

Over on the U tell us forum people have made similar complaints regarding the shipping costs overseas. PP9 stated that they were aware of peoples complaints and the shipping charges would be different for NEWS. We shall have to wait and see.

Well Bart... I think NPGMC (from what I read here) recently announced 'private listening sessions' for members.

So...now he charges you $25 to listen to his music before you pay another $25+ to buy it. Good work if U can get it. Now maybe he will add some sort of value to the listening sessions and maybe the $25 for members will be worth it to them. It sounds like the members are diggin' the site. Not enough for me to visit, but...but I still say...tsk tsk tsk on the greed factor.

We all know Prince tends to overprice his merchandise, but who knows he's going to charge $25 for the disc itself? I don't think it could be that much. And if it is, then no one has to buy it. I would guess more like $10-15, especially given the running time and content. Now if he releases 4 discs this year, music or DVD, averaging $15 a pop, plus the $25 to join, that's $85. Factor in shipping, which of course varies on what part of the world you live in, and you're still likely coming in under $100. Which would be exactly what the club offered last year (sorta...I don't wanna bring up that argument!), for slightly cheaper. Plus there are random downloads like the song "Reflection" and the cyberclips. All of which seems like a better deal to me than previous years.

But of course, I also have no idea if he plans on releasing anything other than N.E.W.S. and the Vegas DVD, so maybe it'll be even more messed up than before. Who knows...but it does seem to me that they're trying to improve the service.

Well, the way I see it is, That last year I paid 100 dollars, and it didnt go the way I planned. I guess it was my fault for having too high of expectations.. call me crazy, but I DID JOIN for those 4 cd's in the booklet at the concert, and it highly pissed me off that I didnt get half of what was stated... "Access" or whatever.. but its not a big deal now

but this year, I have no expectations, and compared to last year, 25 dollars is a good deal. Its not the best thing I've spent it on, but hey

What he's not telling U is that you can order it on June 19th, but he wont mail it to you until he's ready. And coming from a man who doesn't believe in "Time", that could be a long wait.

I dont think I even need to list the NUMEROUS examples of this same scenario.

Geez, do some of you have to make a federal case out of everything Prince does or doesn't do?
Pay the damn 25 bucks and join the club, or get the CD a couple of weeks later at Borders. It's not rocket science.
Prince just turned 45 and it's doubtful that he is gonna be more explanatory about his actions as he ages.
So either accept the crypticness and difficulty that is Prince or move on.
I mean, you do have a choice. No one's forcing you to endure Prince's riddles and mind games.
I still enjoy Prince's music, so the extra BS doesn't bother me. It's entertainment. The fate of the world doesn't rest on how easy or difficult it is to get the CD.
But if I did ever stop liking his music, I wouldn't be on this site constantly bitchin' about the man. What a total and absolute waste of time.

So many of you call yourself Prince fans, but all you do is bitch about the man, whose music you so enjoy!

Its as if none of you have anything better to do in your lives that you have to complain, "im not paying $25...im not joining his club...im not paying shipping...im not paying anything in life, because he should be giving us true "fans" all his music for free!!"

You all need to stop your pathetic whining and whinging. Period.

If you want to know more about Prince and his music join the club. if you want to get advanced news and tickets bfore anyone else, join the club. So far ive downloaded about 100MB worth of music, vids and other stuff.

The website is excellently designed and at the end of the day his site is a pioneer for other artist around the world who are only now starting to go their own way from the "music" companys.

Like the website states, no one knows what the costs will be! You all have to wait June 19th!! stop making crap up.

If you want to buy it good. The man needs to make his money, and you so called "fan-natics!" are meant to be supporting the cause.

And as for dissing the NEWS albumn before its even released, ive got one thing to say to you. Dont buy the F@~king albumn then. You stick to your pop idol licks!

Now you all just wait till June 19th, He can only show you the door, YOU have to walk through it, if you want to buy it.

Ive said my peace.

¡It is really amazing to see you guys complaining all the time! Why don't you relax and wait till next week. On June 19th you will find out more about the music and the costs. The man is throwing a listening party, so if you don't like the music you don't have to purchase it.

Personally I would be surprised if we all can buy the cd next week because it seems to be to easy compared to earlier projects. But since everything is changeing constantly, Prince again, might surprise us all pleasantly this time!

Compared to last years music club I think the performance of the club has improved. It really looks like they try to do their best at PP. Concernig the $25 members fee, nobody is forcing anybody to join the club or to buy the music. Just don't forget that npgmc 03 is only 2 months old and it looks like we already do get new music.

¡May we all be able to see the world as it is and not the way we want it to be!

ChickenLittle

He's making it too difficult for people to get his music. Somebody needs to tap him on the shoulder and remind him that all of his fans do NOT own computers.

Therefore, if they have no computer, they can't join his club in order to pay for his new music. How many copies of his live album were shipped to stores? Prince, who is regarded as one of the best live acts, for the first time released a live album and it sank without making a trace on the Billboard charts.

You're on, Donnie. If it's more than $12.50 I expect to see an admission of defeat wink

I bet it'll cost over $20 when you factor in S&H.

"If you want to know more about Prince and his music join the club" is the FIRST lie you told. The club, as always, is STILL unreliable in terms of information, and they don't even update the Newz. The only times there have been ANY sort of Prince news in there, it's a little cryptic blurb.

The Org is still THE ONLY PLACE TO BE if you REALLY want to know more about Prince and his music.

How interesting. You say you can't understand why people complain all the time, but you then go on to say that you would be surprised if all the members were able to ORDER it next week (let alone actually HAVE the thing), b/c compared to past projects it would be too easy.

THAT'S why people complain. Well, one of the reasons! smile

Get a life blueangel, other than camping outside Prince's home 24/7, you sound like you want to know every single detail there is to know about Prince.

YEs the org compliments the site and know one site would be able to give you all the latest information all the time. The club does have a lot to learn in terms of its information as i do agree the news is a bit poor and doesnt give the fams the opportunity to hear or read the latest licks.

All i can say is sit tight, the club is evolving. As for lying well, whereelse will you be able to hear about his first albumn NEWS from? Whereelse will you be able to buy tickets for any future gig/tours from?

Just go with the flow. If you've got any criticism air your views on the site. You should know where if you've joined.

I expect that us non-members will be able to order the CD. I'm not worried. Non-members were able to order ONA Live last year without joining the club, so NPGMC know what they're doing when it comes to selling music.

Too bad I can't go down to the wrecka stow on Tuesday to have it in my hands immediately, but ordering it will be exciting enough!

WOW!! You guys get so serious about the small stuff. First of all, $25 IS alot of money to simply get access to a web-site that offers little in the way of compensation. However, it is PRINCE, and he gets to charge whatever he wants. It is HIS house, HIS rules. That is how life goes. The best ways to let Prince and the people who run the site know that it is too much, is to either go to the complaints/suggestions and tell them. OR don't join. Believe me when I tell you that if nobody joins (or significantely few) then next year they will drop the price.
Second of all has anybody considered (and I am just MAKING this up by the way) that there might be a slightly discounted price for members because they are members? Prince is a little egotistic and selfcentered true, but that is part of the reason we LOVE him still. Not to mention the fact that he is a GENIOUS!!!
