Prince joke on UK television Here in the UK we have an incredibly funny and fresh show called Big Train (used to be BBC2, now re-running on Cable's UK Play). This was an episode that I had not seen before and was aired on UK Play on 30/10/00 at 22:20(GMT).
The show is basically a string of surreal sketches and this particular sketch showed a group of horse jockies standing on an African Plain (as though they were Gazelles or something) with a nature broadcast style commentary explaining how they like to graze. The next commentated line was "And, now, here we see the Artist Formerly Known as Prince, stalking his prey" and there they had an excellent look-alike, dressed in a black suit with gold chains and haircut circa The Gold Experience, crawling around, waiting to pounce!! Seriously, it was hilarious. Round and round he circled, a jockey broke off from the group, got chased for maybe 50 metres and then was mauled to the ground by the man. The commentary then stated that "Once the Artist has devoured his prey, he will return to his den, where he will stay for two days until he next needs to feed". If you're not familiar with the show, the humour may be lost, but it had me rolling! | |
