First report on Paisley gig There was yet another fantastic performance at Paisley Park June 19,
1999. The show began around 2:30 a.m. and lasted for a little over 2 hours. There was late notification via the L4OA site, so the crowd wasn't huge, but it was an appreciative, enthusiastic audience. The band included 0(+>, Larry G., Mike Scott, Kirk J., Morris Hayes & the percussionist, whose name escapes me now. Of course the band was funky & tight as usual! The slow, funked up version of "Right Back Here in My Arms", was fantastic. 0(+> began this song with a lot of talk, and the recorded version of the lyrics: "Don't U 2 write me letters, Don't want you callin' my farm" was substituted with, "Mayte's Mom quit callin' me on the phone" .....if that was heard correctly, it was amusing. Someone who was there write in with the set list please! Update: An anonymous reader offers the following correction: I was at the performance last night and definitely did not say "Mayte's mom quit callin' me on the phone." What he did say was "Mike Scott's mom should stop calling me on the phone!" That is the truth, heard it loud and clear; got to clean that wax out yo' ears. | |
