Tribe of Millions to perform in MPLS Many of you remember Tribe of Millions, the Minneapolis Funk/Rock band for
their performance at Paisley Park at the Love 4 One Another concert benefits a few years back. They were voted the best local band in Minneapolis in 1995 by City Pages. And the lead singer is a Nephew to Andre Cymone (the "other" Prince connection ). Well they are back after a year and a half off. Tribe of Millions will perform a rehearsal in their hometown of Minneapolis in preparation for an upcoming performance at BB King's club in LA, where they will open (more detail in another post). The show in Minneapolis should be explosive since the band has had over a year and a half off. Malo, lead singer/lead guitarist who makes the ladies melt, has cut commercials for Pioneer Press as well as spent some time working in the studios at Flyte Tyme Studios. Greg and Lee (Drummer and Bass player) have been working on other projects as well as writing lots of new songs. Together, the band has written several new songs and they will introduce at their show Saturday September 16th at Bunkers. If you like Prince, and the blend of Funk/Rock. You won't want to miss this show (in the past they have done great versions of She's Always In My Hair as well as Wendy and Lisa covers ). I don't know what the tickets will cost but I would guess around $3.00. It will be da bomb! Update: I posted this information last week about Tribe of Millions performing at Bunkers in Minneapolis. I just wanted to give you guys this url for Tribe of Millions: http://www.ubl.com/ubl_ar...0737&p_id= For those who judge a bands ability by the cover charge - Almost every local band here in Minneapolis charges $3.00 to $5.00 for a performance. Partly because Minneapolis has a lot of GREAT live bands that people here seem to not be willing to pay more than $5.00 for a local band (unless it's a major label artist or someone on a record label). People here will see another band if you charge more than $5.00. It's a well known local thing here in Minneapolis. There have been great local Minneapolis bands like Greazy Meal who have charge as high as $7.00 for their shows and only half of their normal audience showed up. Don't rate a band by the cover charge, you will foolishly miss out on a lot of great music! | |
