Prince albums listed among the 100 best of all time In the Guardian Newspaper (UK) Monday 3rd of September they had the top 100 Albums as voted by the Industry and Musicans and other realted people, It was not totally clear who actully voted for this, but Prince was featured twice,
Sign of the Times was at number 19 and Purple Rain was at 73 (it may have been 75) somewhere around there anyway. There were very few soul, funk, and hip hop acts in this poll SOTT was ahead of Songs in the Key of Life 50's (Stevie Wonder), Thriller 60's, and Whas's going on ( Marvin Gaye 30's) I blevie it was the Higgest or if not second Highest funk, soul, hip hop album, but I will check. The top four were [pre:0deadbeef0] Revolver - the Beatles OK Computer- Radio Head Sgt Pepper - The Beatles The Bends - Radiohead [/pre:0deadbeef0] Despite this top four which I think is a pushing it a bit, the chart had really no music from the last decade perhaps 10 albums, ie : Nivanna, Oasis, and a like, what you would expect really but hardly any Modern Pop which makes a change from recent polls like this. This poll was UK only. | |
