This morning, Wednesday, July 19, Prince was actually complimented on the
Howard Stern show, albeit not for anything he's done in fifteen years.
Howard brought in a tape of friend Rebecca Romijn Stamos' singing "Darling
Nikki". As you may know, this was released on a Prince tribute album
relatively recently. Stern's comments included "I'm a big Prince fan & I
think they did a nice rendition...it's a great Prince song." Robyn Quivers,
his cohost, was surprised to say she couldn't goof on it. Stern had
mentioned that the song had been produced by her husband John Stamos, who
had also wanted a video with Nikki being played by model Nikki Taylor. But
the record company that released the tribute was too small.
