The Time performs in Washington, DC

This is a review sent to me by a friend of mine (I did Not
attend unfortunatily)

Morris Day & the Time were really shaking the funk at the
Carter Barron Amphitheater in Washington, D.C. on Saturday,
July 15, 2000. The show opened with Lakeside at 7:45pm and
the Time stormed the stage at 9:45 pm. Their act went as
follows:

Time band members
[pre:0deadbeef0]
Jellybean Johnson(drums),
Monte Moir(keyboards),
Keith(keyboards),
Torrie Ruffin(lead guitar),
and Freeze(bass guitar)
[/pre:0deadbeef0]
take the stage and start to warm up. There was a problem
with Freeze's bass guitar but the technicians quickly fixed
it.

Guitar Intro--Morris and Jerome walk out and turn their
backs to the audience. Morris is wearing a bright red suit
with black pinstripes, black shirt, white necktie, with
some black & white Stacy Adams. Jerome is wearing a maroon
suit with maroon Stacy Adams.

Morris Combs his hair during the Guitar Intro. The guys on
the keyboards, Monte & Keith join Morris, Jerome and Torrie
and Freeze up front and Morris gives them some dap and they
retake their positions on the boards. The Time then performs
the following songs:

Oak Tree

Jerk Out

Get It Up

Cool- Morris says, "D.C. is anybody hot? You know why?
Because your cool!"

777-9311-The Time plays an extended instrumental version
while Morris leaves the stage.

Wild and Loose

Stick-Freeze the bass guitarist did an excellent job. It was
a joy watching him work out.

Fishnet-Jerome gets the guys to chant and Morris starts
playing Jerome drum set. Morris used to be a drummer in
Prince's band called Grand Central. The Time takes a break

Gigolos Get Lonely Too-Morris wears a white trench coat
while singing this song.

If the Kid Can't Make You Cum-The Time plays the music but
instead of singing the song, Morris asks the audience if
there are any old school players in the house. He then
proceeds to give them the following "Old School Players
Quiz". Morris says,
"Question number 1: What type of shoes do I have on?
"Question number 2: What kind of pants do I have on?
Morris gave the crowd a grade of 50 because they got the
last question wrong.

Jerome then brings 23 women on stage and Morris tells them
they are going to get "sexy nasty" for the audience.

Ice Cream Castles- The Time changed up the lyrics. They
would sing the verses..."White girls... and then chant,
"We like 'em"...Black girls..."We like 'em"...Orientals....
"We like 'em...Jamaicans "We like 'em".
Morris then asks the Time for "keyboard/bass" and the band
starts singing "You got to shake something" while the women
are dancing. After the song, Jerome kicks all of the women
off the stage, telling them "Eight minutes of fame, get
your ass off the stage." He then gives them red roses for
their efforts.

The Walk

The Bird-the house is up jumping! At the end of the song,
Morris tells the audience, "This is the last call for alcohol, if you ain't got what you want, you got to get your ass up out of here! After this song, the Time leaves the stage except for Jerome who then asks the audience if they want to hear one more. He tells the crowd that Morris has gone to his limousine and that the only way to get him out of the limo is to make the squawking noise to the song "Jungle Love." The crowd makes the noise and Morris returns for the closer,

Jungle Love

Show ends 10:55 pm
