Comedy Central pokes fun at Prince

This came from the Comedy Central Newsletter

WHEN DOVES DIE

Having nearly murdered his career by nursing more eccentricities than Anton Levay, singer, songwriter, and poet Prince has decided to display even more of his great depth by joining the death penalty debate going on across America.

The singer has come out against what supporters call "the ultimate justice," and what he calls, "the penalty formerly known as state-sanctioned murder." A recent post on Prince's website is titled "Who Deserves 2 Kill?" wherein he gives "Props 2 Susan Sarandon 4 her eloquent plea 2 end the death penalty." He added, "And in conclusion, @smile *+* walla walla bing-bang ampersand ellipse question mark."

Prince has always been passionate about controversial issues; in 1987 he championed the use of a "more lickable" carnuba wax on all symbol-shaped guitars.

By the time the film "Purple Rain" came out, Prince was already one of pop's mega-stars. The film earned nearly ten times what it cost to make, enabling the singer to put a hefty down-payment on several pairs of assless pants.
