Report on Friday's Paisley performance

I'm surprised nobody has left a review of Friday's party/performance! So, I will give a short one here, but I'm not that good at this stuff...bear with me...

I overslept a bit and didn't get to the Park until 2:15a or so. I found there was no "suggested donation" for the night. It seemed like people were already leaving. I asked one guy outside what the scoop was and he said MILENIA was going to perform tonight. I'm not sure if that's why people were leaving early? Anyway...about 10 minutes after I got in, MILENIA took the stage. They sang their first song to background loops and things...no other live performers. After the first song, Morris and Kirk got on stage and started playing....very shortly after, Prince literatlly ran up on stage and took to his keys....these three backed the girls for 2 or 3 more songs. They weren't bad...the girls can sing pretty well and can work the crowd. Oh yea...speaking of which...I estimate 100 people maybe?

After they were done, a short break then Prince, Morris and Kirk played a bit more...specifically Gett Off. Prince invited one girl up on stage to dace...she has been a favorite of his the last couple months...she is the same one he tried to get to play the drums a while ago. Then another girl got on stage to dance....then Prince pointed to a girl in the crowd and had her come up as well.

Prince grabbed Habibi and gave it a work out....it was so refreshing to hear him just create on it. For a minute, it sounded like they were going to get into an instrumental version of The Question of U....but it wondered off in not too long....he sure can play the guitar. At one point he was sitting on the "upper" stage with one girl sitting on each side...playing...playing...playing....very smooth...very nice.

Shortly thereafter the Blackshire brothers joined the stage and it was "time to get funky in here!" They are always entertaining to watch!

10-15 minutes later he grabed his bass and asked us what we wanted to hear before we went home...someone shouted "America"...and he said..."O.K....Kirk?"....they broke into it for a bit...but not too long into the song Prince stopped the whole thing and said something like "naaa, I don't like that....what else?" A few suggestions came out....then someone said Days of Wild....and off they were....that song is always entertaining and this was no exception.

My only complaint is the last couple jams have just been Morris, Kirk and Prince...3 pieces...which means LOTs of loops and sampling to fill out the sound....I kinda miss the days when Mike Scott, Rhonda, hornheadz etc were there...much more full and live sound.

But again, very enjoyable...much thanks to all at Paisley. I left shortly after the performance, so don't know what else happened. I don't think they played anymore tho cause Kirk followed me out the door.

Well, that does it....hope it gives y'all some flavor.
Peace....b wild!
