Another report on Studio 54 performance [pre:0deadbeef0]
Chris in his infamous "RED SHIRT-if U don't know...watch the 2night show!" and I, Karrie "formally known as UTAH" attended the B E S T aftershow ever!!! For those who went 2 the concert only....U should have done what we did. Cheap seats at the concert and front row at the aftershow!!!!! What concert????? ha ha ha Actually the hard version of KISS and She's Always In My Hair, U Got the Look, Let's Go Crazy and Nothing Compares 2 U were definite highlights. "Nothing" was played on the piano while he grinded.....at least we got some of those famous moves on the piano bench!!!! Back 2 the aftershow. There R a few highlights that we would like 2 add 2 the prior reports. Yes, over 3 hours and 3 encores later.....we live 2 tell about. Gigi....I am sure U would have 4gotten about U'r feet if there would have been a 4th encore! To start the day out.....I had the brilliant idea that we should start waiting in line at 9:00....."in the morning....and I just can't sleep!" It would B 12 hours before the doors would even open. Around 7:00pm a bunch of us had our ears plastered 2 the back door of Studio 54 catching the sound check. U could hear the Man hollering out commands behind jams of Day's of Wild, Let's Work and Hair.... Chris and I had the honor of being the first in2 the club. Front row babeeee!!! Just 2 the right of that dang speaker box. 3 hours of anticipation later.....out comes the Man in a red outfit of tight pants with a to-the-floor shirt. He had on a new hip chain....it appeared to have blue sapphire hearts dangling every few inches. His hair was a short Graffiti Bridge look including that wonderful beard! U would recall it best by watching the beginning of the Cream video when he is with Diamond and Pearl in the train station. The boy was looking FINE!!!!! (Says Karrie....he he he) Every time he squatted down 2 adjuster his guitar pedals...he was right in my face! At one point I did the "Owwwwwa" cry. The Man smiled and picked up the microphone stand and pointed the microphone down at me 2 do it again. I did as I was asked! One of the first highlights was when he was on the keyboards and he began the beat of Everyday People. Chris swears that he, only a few feet from the Artist, yelled out "There comes a time in every man's life" and within seconds so did the Artist. As GetWild stated....the crowd was singing it over the music. He began to sing backup 2 US! It was a very touching moment. The second highlight was during the Santana Medley, he had trouble with his guitar. He threw it at the guitar tech and headed back to the keyboards. Not missing a beat, he continued to play the keyboards in a breathtakingly beautiful solo. The following songs were so wonderful U would have thought U died and had gone 2 heaven.....The Ride, If I Had a Harem and The Ballad of Dorothy Parker. Third highlight, Poom Poom.....I had hoped he would have played that song. Unfortunately he did not sing any of the lyrics, BUT fortunately, I got up on stage!!!! Me and about 10 others danced around while he played his guitar and walked through the dancers. At one point he was in front of me and I was staring at his back looking out at the crowd. LaRay was doing her little Mayte impression and dancing around the back of him....Mayte would have been proud! We lead the crowd with a "Get On Up" chant. Fourth highlight, Acknowledge Me....enough said! Fifth highlight, first encore, Somebody's somebody...ironically he sang "2:00 in the morning".....I looked at my watch, 2 my surprise it WAS 2:00 in the morning! ha ha ha. Coinsidence, I think not! Sixth highlight, during Courting Time...he was playing his keyboard...but this time it was with drumsticks! The band broke it down as he moved the microphone to face the top of the keyboard and tapped the metal and the microphone with the sticks. He jammed 4 a few minutes like that. The crowd went wild. Later in the song, while Jerry was blowing his horn, the Man said....U need some inspiration! The Man walked over 2 LaRay and pulled her back up on stage and made her dance for Jerry. She did her thang while the Artist watched...he then guided her back 2 the audience and waived a "were not worthy" bow at her. Talk about a dream come true! U down from the clouds yet LaRay? Seventh highlight, after the show, Chris and I went up 2 the VIP room. There we watched as the Man sat among friends and chatted, walked around and watched people dance. Yes, he walked past me and made eye contact while I smiled my appreciation for the nights display. Finally around 5:00am he left through the back doors. Chris and I ran outside and walked past him while he stood at his limo. We told him "Great show 2night, Thank you!" He acknowledged us with a grin and a nod and we walked in2 the sunrise with smiles! The end....Chris and Karrie! [/pre:0deadbeef0] | |
