I'm not going to write up a detailed report but she did a few songs with her band. The one's I remember are "I thought I'd see u again", "caligula", "sexomatic venus freak", "I try", "I can't wait to meetchu".....Prince did not perform and as far as I could tell he didn't even make an appearance. The sound for Macy was HORRIBLE! NOTHING was loud enuff...and it made it difficult to really feel the groove. I mean, when the DJ is blaring music and the band comes on and it's not even half as loud, there's a problem. Oh well. It was cool to see her. She mingled a bit and seemed very approachable. She started a group rendition of "Happy Birthday" for Prince. It was kind of funny to see some of the diehards have uncomfortable looks on their faces during this, being the few people who know he doesn't celebrate birthdays (get over yourselves, people!)...One highlight was seeing "rough footage" for a planned 1982 concert film. All 1999 tour footage was being shown when I first got there. Too bad there was no sound. All the rest of the stuff shown on the screens wasnt too rare. Many public TV performances, parts of the released Lovesexy concert, parts of the omnibus TV special, blahblahblah. Another highlight was hearing, for the first time, "Rave IN2 the joy fantastic". That's right, "IN2". It's a rerecorded version of the song. New vocals, some changed lyrics and it was set to a house beat. The tempo was also a lot faster. Personally, I like it better than the original. The original just sounds too dated and lifeless to me. This new version was fun. I'm assuming this will be on the special edition. Anyway, that's about all I can think of now. Oh yeah, Damon Dickson was in the house and he was STILL sportin his do rag and extreme flat top typhoon hairstyle. Hm...
