First report from the celebration

Just want to comment on the first day of the celebration. The registration process is quick and easy. The staff were friendly and informative. They noted that you may tour the Prince exhibit inside (located in the large soundstage) before going on the tour. This is good to know since the line waiting for the tour can get lengthy. There is only one group of 30 let in per half hour.

The Prince exhibit is very cool. You get an up close and personal look at many of his, and our, most cherished instruments. The best is the Lynn Drum machine that is set up to a large amp. You can even play with the various sounds on the machine yourself!! Too much. He has a few cars on display and the extremely fresh piano he has talked about. On the tour you will see his room to the vault (kind of, it's very dark in the room and it is blocked for entrance), all the studios, A, B and C, plus a nice collection of his outfits spanning his career.

Needless to say, the studio is a fascinating and amazing place. This is certainly a fantastic glimpse into his world. My only complaint is with the "interactive" part of the tour. There are computers set-up for fans to pick songs. But here's the shitty part. You can't hear the songs listed. I consider myself fairly knowledgable with his unofficial catalog, but I did not recognize many of the tracks. What good is this? Oh well, guess the Crystal Ball series will continue to be a mixed bag. But I enjoyed the experience and I recommend you give yourself several hours out at the park. The tour lines move slow. Have fun.
