Here's how they pick inductee's (from www.rockhall.com, their official site):

The Foundation’s nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects nominees each year in the Performer category. Ballots are then sent to an international voting body of about 1,000 rock experts. Those performers who receive the highest number of votes, and more than 50 percent of the vote, are inducted. The Foundation generally inducts five to seven performers each year.

As of 12 pm eastern time, Prince is in the lead with 50.9-percent of the votes.

Chicago is a paltry 20.1-percent in second place, follwoed by Van Halen in third with 12.1, Black Sabbath 11.6, and Peter Gabriel at 5.4 .

Saw MTV News Tuesday morning and Kurt Loder was recaping the 18th Annual Induction Ceremony from NYC. At the end of the recap he mentioned people who were there were wondering when Iggy Pop and the Stooges as well as Ozzy and Black Sabbath will be inducted into the Rock Hall.

Of course there have been many topics on this in the past weeks and months on why Prince was not considered, even though 25 years ago from these inductions, FOR YOU was released. But technicalities stated before 1978. So, 2004 is Prince's first year.

Would love to see Prince, Val Halen, Peter Gabriel, Black Sabbath, KISS, MC5, Iggy Pop/Stooges, Chic, make the cut, among others.

The short list for 2004 comes out in July. Cross your figers.

2004. 20 year Anniversary of Purple Rain. Hmmm.

Doesn't anyone think that maybe, just maybe, Prince is gearing up for next year?? Hall of Fame Inductee, Purple Rain fianlly being released on DVD...properly, (I expect this, as both parties, WB AND PRince stand to gain $$$) perhaps a PR Celebraiton w/ Reunion??? A NEW album specifically designed to KICK ASS in the way PR did back in the day, Prince with a h it song...or 2,...hmmm.
