Prince calls an MPLS television station I was just watching the news here in MPLS. Prince was in a
segment called the buzz. He had called in to the t.v. station to talk about a brand new radio station that has recently come on the air here. It is 96.3. They played prince music nonstop for like a week. Sounds good right, but they played only about 8 different songs over and over agin. Don't get me wrong I adore prince but It did get a bit repetative after the tenth time hearing it. Durring the recorded message he left for the station he stated that he was approached by the station about playing his music in excess but he never oked it. He himself was annoyed and he wanted the public to know that he had nothing to do with this radio station. They are now just playing alot of old school r&b. k bye ShabasLove (ShabasLove@hotmail.com) adds: On the 10 o'clock news tonight, channel 9 KMSP (local Mpls news) aired a call from Prince discussing the Prince-and-related-artists loop of tunes playing on 96.3 FM. He said that he had not endorsed it, and when they asked his permission, he simply asked if they were going to play local artists; he was Still Waiting to see what the format would be like. Apparently, the new corporate big-wheels from Blue Chip Technologies made the decision over the local station's head. Prince commented that he was tired of hearing himself, or hearing anyone's songs three or more times -- including his own songs. He said that he wanted the people of Minneapolis to know that it was not his doing, as some fools had gone to him thinking it was. He also thought it was an opportunity for us, as a society, to look at what we want on the airwaves, and what can happen when national companies try to hit the waves with the 'popular' junk. Personally, I'm just happy to hit the dial and hear some funky shit for once. | |
