Another eyewitness report from the press conference Hola New Power New York!
Just came back from the Prince's and I mean "Prince's" Press conference and I am happy to be the first one to announce to you that our boy Prince is back!!! I was fortunate enough to be able to invite a whole bunch of NPNYers to this afternoon Prince conference where we were given very special VIP seating up front. Big shout out to Sam for the hook up man! Here the low down on the... As of the recently expiration of the publishing contract with Warner/Chapel He [Prince] will return to his Birth name for from now into the future. He still technically cannot release his albums "without conflict" on another label, but this is definitely a step in the right direct for the former artist formerly know as Prince On the future of Rave... As of Clive Davis's announcement of his recent release from Arista Records, All "agreements" with Arista are "null and void". Apparently the "agreements" were made with Clive Davis and not Arista Record and since Clive in no longer at the helm of Arista Prince owes Arista nothing. Prince also mentioned that he has talked to LA Reid Arista's new CEO and there is always chance that he and Arista may work together in the future, but right now their is no immediate plans. Prince has plans to repackage the previously released "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic" under the new name "Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic". That is of course not a miss print, "IN2" has been replaced "UN2"in the title. He is not sure exactly how this is going to be distributed yet. It will either be coming out on a CD or via Internet. He was not sure on that. On Mayte... Him and Mayte are still "Friends". All he could say is that "I'm doing my thing and she is doing hers" when asked more about that he didn't really seem to want to go into details and looked obviously bothered by the whole situations... On the Concert on the 13th... he says there will be A lot of Special guest stars, He also described the event as a Jam session with music write by Prince. New NPG so Far... Najee - Woodwinds John Blackwell - Drums Kirk - Computer programming No Rosie Gaines - He mentioned that Rosie didn't seem interested Couple of miscellaneous things... Prince mentioned that he would be going to be doing a brief "Spiritual Studies" from August to July and when he returns he probably be putting together an end of the summer tour. When asked about the "Studies" he said it was "personal". When asked who would win a fist fight between him and Michael Jackson, Prince was very nice about it and asked everyone to be cool with Michael and wasn't try to say a bad thing about him. A love song compilation titled "When 2 R In Love: The Ballads of Prince" was configured but denied for release by Warner Bros. A new Internet only single will be released soon called "CyberSingle", the lyrics are as follows... [pre:0deadbeef0] Chorus: come and get my download 2 b free or not 2 be free, that is the question, c all the beautiful ones r with me C, its lovely As the media tightens its grip on U and the beast continues 2 split in 2 Superman steps in the phone booth one more time 2 drop another cybersingle, life-saving line (it's lovely) Lookin' 4 some that will make U organized Dead Prez. R Rage conspire 2 open up Ur eyes What good is a mind of a man if its runs by another Take back Ur conscious, my sisters and brothers! Chorus cuz U don't know it's wrong 2 steal The devil got U thinkin' he's invisible but how he makes U act is real Television got Ur mind but U got 2 get free Open Ur Eyes Purple Haze Jesus saves Sister and brothers! Love 4 One Another! [/pre:0deadbeef0] A press kit was giving to everyone which included a copies of a few recently published articles, a picture with attached slide, various flyers and a press releases about the upcoming celebration and the name change from Susan Blond, Inc. More interesting in the press kit was the inclusion of lyrics for new tracks and remixes which we will probably see included in the new release "Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic". The songs are as follows: Peace, 2045: Radical Man, Undisputed (The Moneyapolis Mix), Chuck D.'s Ryhme, In The Socket, Hot wit U (Nasty Girl Remix), ManOWar (remix), Beautiful strange, The Calling (by Carlos Santana) and People (by Graham Central Stations. The later 2 tracks being included because apparently Larry Graham wrote People, but Carlos Santana has yet to credit Larry publicly. Of course took the liberty of being the first during the press conference. I really hope I am not leaving anything out. My mind is on sensory overload right now. Very rarely to fans/enthusiasts get invited to such a event. So I think that was extremely cool on Prince's part for allowing such a thing. I would like to thank Prince, Paisley Park, and his Press Agency Susan Blonde for extended the invitation to NPNY. Special Thanks again to Sam for the hook up.
