On my quest for different electronic drum manufacturers, I stumbled upon a John Blackwell video performance in WindowsMedia and RealPlayer formats.

Apparently it's from a previous NAMM Trade Show appearance in which John was demoing Hart Dynamics Electronic drum sets.

Michael Bland is also mentioned in the artists section as "MICHAEL BLAND (Prince)"


And on the homepage there's a small photo of George Clinton holding up an electronic drum pad!

Oh and by the way, at this years NAMM, John Blackwell and Jonathan Moffett (Michael Jackson's drummer!) had a drum match at the end of the trade show! Right there on the floor, last minute with a crowd around them as they were shutting down the trade show! Awesome!

FORGET SIR JAC! Did anybody take the time to download Blacwell's demo??? My Lawd! I knew Blackwell was awesome. But hearing him in concert is one thing. Hearing and seeing him just having fun going off like that in the demo is just amazing.

O MY GOD ... that FAKE PRINCE IMPERSONATOR is so fine ...I wish i had his number cuz i would call him and rap in tell the sun came up ...lol

I did the Prince impersonation bit back in the mid 80's. Mostly in the central Florida area. It was tough going to my regular 9-5 job after many a night of mad partying, not to mention trying to get all that eyeliner off! It did lead to my learning guitar and keyboards, which I still enjoy to this day. I found that it's much more beautiful to create something of your own than to copy your idol (although when you figure out a particular riff of his, it's awfully cool). Anyway, I'm glad I don't have any pictures of me in my Purple Rain outfit!
